OMG Debit cards are HORRIBLE for road trips. I drove from Alabama to San Diego and used debit cards along the way, big azz mistake. Gas stations, hotels, resturants, shops along the way, all put HOLD on my card. When I got to the destination, a hotel in downtown San Diego there was not enough available on my debit card for the hotel to swipe for the week I was planning to stay because several hotels along the way had not released their hold. Almost had to sleep in my car, but Navy Fed was able to clear it when I went into the branch in San Diego. At that time, 7 years ago I had no credit cards, thinking debit was the answer. 🙀👺 Now I credit cards from amex, navy fed and chase.

Thing is with credit cards is if someone steals your card or info and uses it to buy stuff then they’re spending the banks money, not yours. I feel safer with credit cards, and I’ve had no problems in the past getting fraudulent charges removed from my credit card.
