The Power of Immersive and Experiential Theatre and Dance

Denver Center Theatre Company’s Off-Center was created to engage new and younger audiences through artistic experimentation, including immersive theatre. With support from The Wallace Foundation, Off Center collaborated with Third Rail Projects on adventurous new work. Dance/USA presented a webinar October 29, 2019 featuring a a conversation between two organizations at the forefront of this work about re-contextualizing dance and theatre performance and engaging millennials. They shared quantitative and qualitative data about how immersive and experiential works are becoming increasingly sought after across a broad range of demographics, and examined their recent collaboration as a case study on how immersive work and integrated marketing and research efforts can foster new audiences and transform the conversation.
