Stack On Gun Case Lock Replacement Key Lost

More fun vids on DIY stuff, here I am stepping through changing the lock on this gun case. Easy project, hardest part was finding the lock. Once you have it just a simple switch out.

I have three of these StackOn cabinets all keyed different. Figured someone had replaced them on YouTube, thanks for finding the correct size, I got a 5 pack all keyed the same for under $20... StackOn wants $20 just to replace a key!!!

Thanks for the information. The lock you mentioned did not exactly match the mechanism on my cabinet but could be adapted by drilling a single hole in the locking bar and bolting the lock plate (came with the lock) to the locking bar. Thank you.

I would’ve never guessed it but I used a pair of vise grips put it on the lock as tight as I could and turned it and it opened

I think if you give them the model and serial number you can get it.

Anyone what know that long metal part is called or part number? The one he took off before he was able to replace the lock? My safe is missing that part.

I saw the lock on Amazon, is it 0.625 or 0.375 1.125. There’s a lot to choose from

Yeah I'll be doing this. Broke one of two keys that came with the cabinet. Stack on wants me to pay to notarize a form, send them the form, then they will send me a key order to pay for. They can kiss my ass

I re locked my 4 stack on cabinets so they all share the same key, and had a much better lock. My only issue with this video is the barrel key lock. Just a bad choice considering the other options, and how easy they are to defeat.

ShredderDIY — I grabbed a small green “SENTINEL” gun cabinet yesterday (for free) w/ the door unlocked & key missing just like you.. there’s a “KEY #” label on the back that corresponds to the lock in the event that the owner loses their original keys... DID YOU HAVE A SIMILAR LABEL?? If so, did you attempt calling the manufacturer for replacements?? I also have a pretty beefy “BRINKS” fire safe that has bith KEY & COMBO DIAL LOCKS, and the door is LOCKED!!! I was able to PICK THE KEY LOCK, but I’m screwed on the combo... It also has the KEY CODE tag on it, but 2 friends told me not to even bother calling Brinks because without a receipt, they won’t do it....

I’m wondering if you (or viewers) have had any experience with trying to get keys from the manufacturers using these codes... if the safe is OPEN and you can prove this to the company showing you have no nefarious intentions, I can’t imagine why they’d still require a receipt!! People pick these second hand safes up every day..

EITHER WAY — EXCELLENT INFO IN THIS VIDEO, and I’ll 100% be doing this if SENTINEL won’t toss me the keys!

Suggestion: You might want to blur out the key number on your new key in the video.
You can do blurring using Youtube Studio on already-uploaded videos.

For similar reasons, in my videos, I didn't show my key, key number, or the specific brand of cabinet.
