Hello Denise, I am a new subscriber and I have been binge watching you on yt as well as skillshare. I have never been into modern abstract type art so I don't know what it is about you and your style that is drawing me in so much. I love your little studio, everything is in a perfect spot! I am 62 years old and I have been a quilter for almost 50 of those years and I completely understand what you are saying about selling your art. With quilting it is pretty much the same thing. I have never sold any of my quilts for the simple fact that no one can afford them! They cost a fortune to make and many, many months to complete. You will never get out of a quilt what you put into it. I would rather give them away as gifts than to be insulted with a low ball offer. But it would have been nice to find a "side hustle" as you put it, LOL. But, thank you for all the inspiration you have given me and I am trying to get the mojo to get into my craft room and play with my water colors and acrylic paints.

I love clear boxes for storage so I can actually see things. I’ve been buying the Sterilite plastic file boxes that are in the office section at Walmart. I like them because they have straighter sides than regular plastic storage bins so I don’t feel like I’m losing as much closet or shelf space to stash them. I also like that they are banker’s box size so I don’t overload them and make them so heavy I don’t want to get them out.

My gosh Denise. You just walked us through years of personal and financial investment on your part for your love of art and its many forms. I would be in heaven to have such an art studio. Your ability and optimism in adapting to changes is very evident and I wish you continued success. You really deserve it...and I want to be able to continue enjoying your videos (hint-hint). Truly enjoyable time spent visitimg your studio. 💕

This was a lovely tour. I have those metal racks all full of clear bins. If I don’t see what I’ve got, I don’t use it. My room has a sewing corner, and an art corner.
Loved the stencil storage, great idea! I might make a book for my stencils.I don’t have a lot of large stencils like yours, but I have a lot of stamps that I have difficulty with storing well. I didn’t see you mention stamps so maybe you don’t use them. I don’t draw well, so I depend on stamps!
Thank is so much for such a thorough and thoughtful tour and not rushing through it. All the colors would make me happy! I used to make junk journals but they were all grungy and I love bright happy art! 😊

I gasped when I saw your Daniel Smith drawer. I love those paints. 😍

I'm looking into having a living/working space in our garden to use as a studio and an indoor space to train my dog. 😊

It looks like you have a lovely view from the window where your ribbons are hanging. 😊

I spy a Rothko book! I love his work, I find it so restful to look at. 😊

I am so nosey and absolutely love studio tours! I love to see where people make their creative magic, so I can visualise them in their unique space. Your studio is utterly gorgeous, Denise. It's a mixture of beauty and functionality. You have some very pretty drawer fronts, and flowers, and fabulous antique furniture and space to display your art, alongside the functional transparent boxes.

I have filled my studio with Really Useful Boxes which come in various sizes and are transparent, and stack, and give a fairly uniform appearance. My studio is a converted bedroom with fitted kitchen units (minus doors) all around with a continuous work surface, and wall cabinets (also minus doors) above. It is stacked the the gunnels with Stuff - I have far too much stuff, with all the different creative avenues I wander through, and I also have a lot of UFOs (UnFinished Objects) which take up more room than they should! The room is divided into different zones and it works pretty well for me. It is north facing so the large window gives good light during the day. The electric lighting is poor and always casts shadows wherever I am but if I turn off the central light and spots, I can get good directional light from my various lamps.

There's always something one could improve upon in a studio and it is a continuous work in progress! When I'm not in there much (like all last year when I was doing an online drawing course which I did mostly in the comfort of the living room in front of the large screen TV for the video tutorials), it turns into a dumping ground and becomes a total tip in short order. I'm in the middle of a good clear-out now, and once that's done, I am planning to do a proper studio tour! (That is, when I'm not too embarrassed to share my mess with the world haha!).

My hubby and I also took care of my elderly parents. He did most of the work because of my own health issues, and we went through a few very hard years especially with Mum who was an extremely difficult person and caused us a great deal of stress, especially myself as I was going through cancer and major surgical issues at the time. Art has always been so important to me and I NEED to be creating! I feel so blessed to have such a lovely room.

Your videos continue to be an inspiration to me and it is great seeing the lovely space where you create such gorgous art. Thanks so much for sharing!

Love your space and what you have done with it! Your ribbons next to the window really spoke to me. I too want my colorful supplies visible. I don’t sew but I do use fabrics in my art pieces and I can’t stand to fold them up and put them away! I now use skirt hangers that hang off of each other and put them on a door mounted laundry rack so I can admire their beauty! Sometimes I actually talk to them and pet them🤪
