BIG respect!! I will never be able to do this - it's far beyond my skills, but very glad to see that it's possible.

I might as well have been watching brain surgery... If I want more memory I am going to have to do it the old fashioned way and buy it from Apple. The skill set needed to perform this is very rare. Good work, I felt like a cave man looking inside a mechanical clock.

This is impressive to watch.

There are several videos on YouTube detailing how to clone your SSD onto an external SSD with a Thunderbolt connection. I have been running my M1 Mini from an external for months now and it works great. Best of all, my internal SSD is not being used at all so I am hoping it will not fail and scrap the computer.

Just image - there was a time where the swap of the main storage was a matter of seconds and the only tool required was a screwdriver. Apple has made it so much more convenient nowadays to do basic maintenance :D

This guy could make a fortune providing this service to Mac Mini owners.

It’s just sick how much space is left in the case of this Mac. TheMac could be at least 50% smaller!

Nice upgrade ! M2 machines with 256Gb storage should be even easier to upgrade to 512Gb since only one memory slot is populated with a 256Gb chip. So I guess it's just a matter of soldering a new 256 chip on the empty slot and voila. Have you tried upgrading the RAM on one of those Macs ?

Looks like a worthy upgrade.
What kind of performance gains did you get?
How much was the NAND itself?

So much space in there, god forbid Apple actually designs a product with user-upgradable storage that they don’t software lock.

Can you upgrade Mac Mini M2 8GB with only one 256 GB ssd chip to two chip ? Actually add one 256 GB ssd chip to an empty position. Can you ?

It awesome what you did just a question if is possible to know, is it necessery just change the modules and thats it or change position of resistors or coils, you know more storage might more energy... Do u know what I mean.

This is much more straightforward than I expected. No straps to set, just slap on the NAND and DFU restore, and that's really everything?

Funktionier das ganze auch bei den neueren Mac Mini´s mit M2 Prozessor.?

Do you know if there is a way to add ram??

Can you explain how this is possible? I read on the internet that for new versions some boot information is locked in the internal ssd which is inaccessible and if the ssd dies the mac mini is basically bricked as changing ssd would not help because the mac won't boot.

A Before and After Disk read and write speeds would be helpful, curious to see if the performance is similar or different.
