Well it seems like you have joined the woke brigade with that they nonsense.I wish you well but that’s me done with your channel.

Good to see a Youtuber penning a bike for a long time and actually taking care of it rather than just bolting new sponsored bits on it. Well done you!

I’d personally either dunk the centre stand in Coca Cola overnight before starting the work with autosol and a big red scotch brite or more probably just get the Hammerite out. Either way I’d love more of this sort of thing, more people should work on their bikes.

Just an observation here from an outsider looking in TMF but always wear safety glasses when messing with something with stored energy like circlips and springs.
Great video.

I love the way you show your home maintenance efforts 'warts and all'. Most of us are like this (I'm sure) and end up in a world of hurt from time to time. Hats off to you for showing it!

So glad you are looking after her so that she can be more up to date!

With things like centre stands Andy and crash bars, I would use your local powder coater and get them to shotblast, zinc phospated and black satin powder coat the stand and crash bars .. they will stand up to the weather conditions alot better than standard paint and you'll be surprised it dosn't cost the earth ... but you have done a good job using a rattle can...

It’s wonderful to see bikes receiving such attention. I’m constantly tinkering with mine. Considering the immense joy they bring us, it’s the least they deserve. As always, your content is top-notch. Yours sincerely, a completely unoffended subscriber

I really enjoyed this vid Andy. It is just very real life and having a 9 year old GS myself it’s refreshing to see what most bikers need to do and hold on to your bike! It’s still an excellent machine and yours will look good for a few years to come now.

She's a beauty, she'll look brand new when she's done. You should be proud of her Andy.

Dealing with sidestand/centerstand springs is definitely a “kettle of pain!” I think you may have coined a new phrase 😆😆 Thanks for the video, I look forward to part two 😎

Top job Andy, have the same machine. A great choice and easy to service.

Picked up a used 2017 GS Adventure with 7k miles on it a couple month ago, fantastic machine. I can imagine the new bikes have their own charm but I dont see what else is needed with the bike itself. Mine has the analogue clocks like yours too, which I actually find a bonus these days:) Thanks for the video, ride safe!

I would have had the crash bars & centre stand re- powdercoated, much cheaper & a factory finish. Youve really taken good care of all your bikes, but our weather is horrible, & & its always a battle to maintain them, all the best 👍

When it comes to workshop calamities, you name it and I've done it. One particularly cold and damp winter I decided to do a little respraying in the warmth of the kitchen. It was on "Over-spray Catastrophe" 🤣 So if you have a little difficulty, remember somebody somewhere will have turned it into a disaster 🤣👍

Love to watch your 'garage' videos. So good to see I'm not the only one who did these jobs on a wing and a prayer lol.

Great video. My centre stand is in a similar condition, you've inspired me to crack on and get it done.

Learned a new word: “Titivation”… excellently applied here. Exactly what you are doing! I love these kinds of videos because these are the little niggles that annoy us “regular guys” doing these supposedly “simple” projects. Thanks for showing the struggle!!!

You did well. Rattle can is pretty good stuff these days. I use it often. Keep the can moving about a foot away and not too much at once, 3 or 4 coats is right. Can't do without a center stand. Have them on most all my bikes. BMW's you can spin them around one direction or another for most models. You have a flat they are hard to beat. Good vid. Always work safe. That was a workout cleaning the stand. You did well. A small sandblaster with glass beads would have done well too. Those look good considering the time and conditions you ride in. I got my BMW K1200RS off the centerstand yesterday and then couldn't get the side stand down. With a dodgy knee replacement I thought I was really in a mess but I got it back on the centerstand. Those springs, that's a good technique as long as you don't run out of stretch. Beats pulling by hand. Sometimes vice grips or a C-clamp helps. I have a SW Motech stand for my new R1200 nine T UGS. I hate crawling around right now. Those lights lok good for the money. Anything is better than nothing as long as it works dependably. Chapter two awaits. Next time
