Hi I thought water lily didn’t need a pot with holes!! I saw many you tubers just using a container without holes and then into a bigger water container

Do you have to put soil in the pot? Can you just put the rocks then put it in the pond? Or can you just put the lily in the water with nothing and let it free float? Just a question. I ordered one to put in my pond we just made.

Can water lily plant thrive with four leaves at a time. I am having problems with sun reaching the plant roots as two plants are in same pot. Cant get more pots as sun comes in only one spot in balcony. Someone told 4 leaves per plant is sufficient. Is it right ? Thanks
