a tried and true pattern for sure that many bait brands utilize. In America there is a brand called bass assassin/salt assassin. A bait brand with all different pattern baits but for whatever reason I have had a lot of success catching “speckled trout” in Galveston with a silver glitter/gray/black curly tail of there making.

I haven't seen any doubletails in a long time, and yet there was a time they were considered great lures. Have they just gone out of fashion, or is there some reason people don't seem to be using them anymore?

My only complaint is they melt easily. Other than that they caught me lots of fish

How do you know what size jig head or hook size to use? Any pointers?

I have mistakenly found Zman soft plastic do not hold up well in tropical climates unless there actually in the water hahah
