What is ocean acidification? What about hypoxia? How serious are these issues? Our guest is Dr. Tessa M. Hill, Associate Professor at the University of California-Davis, who tells us about what the changes in ocean chemistry mean to the health of the ocean and to all of us. Find out more about ocean acidification and some possible solutions.

Kinda sad, that a well done explanation by actual experts on an important topic gets so few views and likes.

The socialmedia algorithms are broken ..

Interesting that all of the state's involved with this research have hydro generating station's and we learned back in 1972 that the hydro power plants where what was depleting all of the oxygen for lake Ontario! Why haven't they converted to clean coal?

You never mentioned that the Ocean is a giant Buffer system, as you know buffer systems "Resist" changes in pH.

Yes and the PH of the ocean has not changed in millions of years butcher the oceans are warmer and giving off Co2 the PH is lower then it is were the colder oceans are absorbing Co2?

Why dose she not show calcium any where in this? It is the most common element in the ocean and the element that most readily bonds with carbon!

Dislike
Oceans are basic, acidification is used to fresh water.
Plus there is no negative impact of CO2%&pH. Proof?
The best wild fish catch ~5 million tons for year is in the water with pH 7.7
On the open ocean...
