I always thought of octane as the Bart Simpson of apex, is smart, but who has enjoyed the life of being “dumb”, in the sense of no tension or Debts

I love how it went from Octane being Manipulative of lifeline in Season 5 to Him being as smart as Wattson, Crypto, and Caustic.

Tbh, if octane actually did plan his fights before rushing in, he would be terrifying in battle lore wise. He isnt revenant or ash level of terrifying but im sure he would be up there with wraith if he didn't simply rush in for the adrenaline rush.

You know, my older brother and I had a conversation similar to this once. Our conversation was who the smartest legends were, and we put him up there as one of the smartest legends. We put him up there with Crypto, Caustic, Wattson and a few other legends (legends like Ash and Horizon). Octane is smart, he just is a adrenaline junkie and enjoys having fun

Did u know in one of the devs interviews (I think it was a live stream) some of the fan's asked the devs how smart is octane and one of the devs responded with and I quote "octane it's smart his very bright". And also said "when he uses his just pad he calculates how much force he needs to put in a jump to lunch himself"

If this turns out true it could also explain why Crypto suddenly does not trust octane as much, he even says hes something about like father like son iirc. So maybe its deeper than just oh octanes did a bad and crypto does not believe him, maybe crypto can see signs of some kind in octane that he knows how smart octane could be? I dont know I could be reaching tbh, just thought it was kinda strange for those 2 to have voice lines like that as you would think crypto would just see him like everyone else and dumb idiot who blows himself up and is reckless.

Writers (specifically Ashley Reed) have said *Octane* is quite smart and savy, but about the stuff he is interested in:
like physics, aerodynamics, acceleration, preservation of energy, etc...

For example, *Octane* is supposedly the type of guy who could elaborate the complicated calculations to help an ski jumper (acceleration, angles, weight, air resistance...) reach longer distances

There is some sort of scale for the smartest Legends:
- *Wattson*
- (A incredibly HUGE empty space)
- *Horizon*
- *Caustic* (probably he shares the same level as Horizon)
- Past *Wraith* (probably human *Ash* was at this level too)
- *Crypto* and maybe *Octane...* and as a hard guess, *Rampart*

It's also fair to say that Duardo is one of the richest men on one of the richest planets. Psamathe is below one of the hottest resorts known to the outlands, and is a business tycoon capital.

Duardo would no doubt have gotten his son the best education money could provide, especially knowing he had hoped his son would one day take over his business.

We also forget that in the titanfall universe, genetic manipulation is probably pretty easy for a pharmaceutical company. So maybe the reason why octane isn’t dumb is because his dad did a little changing to him

For me this seemed obvious. If I had a child then of course I would like my child to take over my company and in order to do that you gotta teach your kid about business and what not. That's probably why Octane likes to do dangerous things because he was probably sick and tired of doing and living in a boring and uneventful life style

Okay a small detail to back this up they never mention who made the jump pad and octane being a genius would make sense. I mean he created a small pad about as tall as a child that can launch people carrying heavy equipment several meters. Lets take rampart with a purple bag for example first she has a big mountable turret that she just carries around literal walls like yeah they fold up but that's still a giant hunk of metal and somewhere she is storing all the ammo for said turret. Then she can carry like 40 packages of heavy ammo on top. So yeah the jump pads cool.

Octain's brains cell probably got destroyed by the drugs
