While Giga Nevada was expected to consume 100 MW and Giga Texas 136 MW, now Tesla is unveiling Cortex—a groundbreaking AI datacenter at Giga Texas that consumes 130 MW of power and is set to expand to over 500 MW. This is far beyond what’s needed for Tesla’s car and battery production at a Gigafactory and it enough to power a small city. Tesla has already more than doubled its entire compute power in 2024, outpacing all previous years combined. And it's preparing to add human-like capabilities into the vehicle with Grok and xAI.
