Timing of the 2nd Coming - According to Prophets and Apostles

As most of you know, i have done several videos on the 2nd coming.  I have never attempted to predict the timing of the second coming and I have no idea when it will be, however most people that see my videos believe that I am saying that the 2nd coming is a long way off because of how many events are yet to happen.  For many this goes against what they believe the timing of the 2nd coming will be. 

Many see the current events and state of the world and FEEL that we must be close.  But the comment that I get most as a result of these videos (that people use to say my videos are misleading and that the 2nd coming is soon is comments and quotes from prophets and apostles on the timing of the 2nd coming.  So I thought in this video I would show as many quotes as I could find where prophets and apostles discuss the timing of the 2nd coming.

I loved that president Hinckley quote - live so that if the Savior came tomorrow you wouldn't feel ashamed or embarrassed to meet Him.

"Time is running out!" This statement could have been said by prophets for generations, and it would be true. But with the times we are experiencing right now, for a prophet to say that and not mean it would be fear mongering. It's not just one or two of the brethern who are talking about the second coming, and none of them are telling us that the time is not now. They are telling us to be prepared. Do you think they are trying to deceive us? To keep us on the straight and narrow path.

President Benson said “a living prophet is more important than a dead prophet”. I also think we could say that what the prophets say today is more important than what they said yesterday. Even the final lesson of the come follow me manual for December 2023 said “It IS coming soon”. You’re sacrificing what they are saying today for what they said a decade ago.

Your content is well researched and I appreciate your level headed and grounded approach.

However, I noticed you used a lot of older quotes. Even your more modern quotes were mostly from apostles or prophets who have passed on for close to a decade now.

“Of the Savior’s words that no man knows the day or the hour of the coming of the Son of Man (see Matt. 24:36), the Prophet asked: “Did Christ speak this as a general principle throughout all generations? Oh, no, He spoke in the present tense. No man that was then living upon the footstool of God knew the day or the hour. But He did not say that there was no man throughout all generations that should not know the day or the hour. No, for this would be in flat contradiction with other scripture. For the prophet says that God will do nothing but what He will reveal unto His servants the prophets. Consequently, if it is not made known to the prophets, it will not come to pass.”

So if older prophets like Pres Hinkley said he didn’t know when the time was, and no one does, he was correct. Has our modern prophet said that? Not at all.

And what has our modern prophet been saying? Well, President Nelson gave a talk about a fire that consumed everything in Paradise, California. And said “time is running out.”

And this quote from President StevenJ Lund:
“Then he (President Nelson) went on for about 10 minutes without taking a breath, you know, 95-year-old President Nelson, and just his whole visage just lighted up with enthusiasm. He talked to me about this final work of the gathering and his deployment of the youth of the church to make that happen. This thing that has been talked about by apostles and prophets for as long as there have been people on this Earth, looking forward to the end game, when the earth will be rolled up like a scroll and the Savior will come again. And I walked out of that room, just with this intense understanding and knowledge confirmed to me by the Spirit that I share with you and that is: that He's coming, He really is and it's imminent. I don't know what that means. All I know is that there's a sense of urgency about the brethren.”

Again, this sense of urgency seems to be important for a reason. It’s not just to “inspire us to do the work we need to do even though the second coming is likely very far off.” That’s not a sense of urgency 😂
Urgency means it’s imminent and you truly believe President Nelson’s words that “time is running out.” Not figuratively, not because our individual time might run out when we expire unexpectedly, no, ALL of our time is running out.

Nah, 'Time is running out" from president Nelson is more then enough for me. It overwrites everything you read that indicates is not close. It's because i heard and saw with my own eyes & ears. And it felt right. I think is extremely close.

Direct references to the second coming by the Brethren have increased exponentially in the past 5 years. This is not some fanciful thinking, but there are some who are actually tracking what they've been saying. They are calling us to be ready because we are in that season. I don't think it can be denied when you look around and see the troubles in the world, as well as the troubles in the Church. Persecutions are increasing rapidly as well. We are not just experiencing troubles, but man has now gained the ability to literally destroy the entire world in one fell swoop. The ability to create designer lethal diseases, weapons that stretch the imagination, tyranny that is here and is coming that will make any kind of oppression of the past look like a visit to the park are all here. The Lord says He has to come back or all flesh would be destroyed. Everything is lining up for His return. No time in history has ever been this chaotic. The Church itself is reeling internally due to various activism and other issues going on that is trying the faith of good members. People in droves are leaving the Church, and all Christian churches in general. This mess in the Middle East is slowly ramping up into something greater. The fact the US is on the verge of collapse should be a red flag like none other as this nation is the only thing stemming the tide of "the world" coming against Israel, and if/when this nation stumbles things will get spicy really fast. I'm just saying, no time before has been quite like this. There have been tumultuous times before, but today is truly unprecedented. Already I am seeing the Saints grumbling that the Lord is delaying His coming. Obviously much needs to happen, but things can happen very rapidly. And then we are in the midst of a generational cycle, the Pride cycle if you will, and we have come to the end of a long cycle where the world is set to drastically change. These occur ever 80-100 years and here we are. The elites are pushing their "Great Reset" because they aren't stupid, they know history, and they know where we are. Of course this Great Reset is a set of changes they wish to see made that would have sweeping changes in how the entire world works. It's a technocratic totalitarian global communism. This shouldn't be surprising since this is Satan's plan and he is trying to establish his plan ahead of the return of Christ. Satan always has a counterfeit version of everything the Lord does, and he is rapidly trying to cram this Great Reset upon the world. It's perfectly fitting at this time that he would be pushing this agenda. We are totally nearing the end of the book of Helaman and about the begin the third book of Nephi, if you catch my drift.

You spent a lot of time quoting old prophets while leaving out the many quotes from our current prophet and apostles. This felt like defending your opinion rather than fairly reviewing what we are hearing in conference. The referenced footnotes in our prophet and apostles talks are amazing bread crumbs. They are practically shaking us by the lapel’s trying to get us to wake up from our stupor of “all is well” thinking.

I normally agree with a lot of what you say but not in this video.
First your comments from Pres Nelson referring to 1 Nephi 14 are pertaining to what John wrote about on the great and abominable church and its fall. We will witness that. Just because Nephi is then commanded to stop writing doesn't mean that everything Nephi wrote is prior to the book of Revelations.
The other part where I really disagree which is "At that day the father will shall commence, in preparing the way for the fulfilling of his covenants which he hath made to his people who are of the house of Israel" This is where we will see both the Jews and Lamanites accept the gospel and they will be a blessed people. We will witness this. All of these are events that occur close to when the Savior returns.
Pres Nelson has said the work is hastening and a lot of the events described by John, Daniel, Joseph Smith and others will start to happen quickly and soon. Eight years ago I would have told you that I would be dead before the second coming (I'm 46). I now believe its going to happen within the next 10-15 years. At the end of the day we should be vigilant and knowledgeable on the signs of the second coming and our spirituality needs to be at its best so we can receive revelations and have the constant companionship of the holy ghost.

I'll tell you why it matters to me. It's the difference between joining a civil war/revolution (if one happens) or sitting out and letting the world burn as the unstoppable second coming happens.
If the world can be fixed, then it might be worth considering fighting for freedom and righteousness, but if it's the second coming, then the only hope is for Jesus to sort out the world after it burns. Hard words to admit, but that's how I've felt for the last 4 years.

For me, I cant escape the idea that we are living in a 3rd Nephi 7 world. Our government seems to be losing its hold (elections openly disputed, laws and court rulings ignored), and people have certainly gone tribal. It seems to be happening in real time all around us.

There has been an unmistakeabke accelleration of signs and events. Above all, can't you just FEEL it? It has become palpable. People falling away from faith in massive numbers. People of faith barely clinging to survival (both spiritually and even literally). I honestly can't help but feel we are extremely close to a crescendo. Like all the statements, prophecies, visions, etc. Are all lines moving closer together; to soon touch at a great climax or endpoint.

One final thought... how much more wicked can the world become?

The only quote that you didn't mention that I feel like we heard recently at a general conference within the past 3 years was from President Nelson where he said something along the lines of "between now and the second coming the Lord will perform his greatest miracles."

He didn't directly say that the second coming was going to be happening in a year but it is interesting to know that after that point and whenever the Lord arrives that the Lord will be performing his greatest miracles

Personally I feel like many saints today are using the second coming almost as a “get out of jail free” card for death. Man is appointed to die. It’s a necessary and proper step. Just as birth. We need to prepare to die. If we are prepared to die. We will be prepared for the second coming of the lord. And whether in mortality or in death. If we are prepared. We will be with the lord when he comes. And we need to do the preparatory work of gathering for the second coming.
