There is a goof in the show, the sails have Portuguese symbols like the stretched cross of Christ instead of the Spanish symbols, they probably tried to copy a powerful Portuguese galleon and forgot to replace the symbols. :)

These seemed Portuguese ships as they used the Portuguese stretched Cross of Christ ("+" shape), and not the Spanish Cross of Burgundy ("X" shape").

But at the same time, those ships have the correct Spanish Burgundy cross in the ship's stern and they call them Spanish.

So this was a goof from the series.

They probably wanted to copy the most powerful galleons of those times (the Portuguese ones), and copied, exchanged the rear flag, but forgot to exchange the symbols on its sails.

Portuguese galleons were the biggest and most powerful of the Invincible Armada (many years before the series), that's why the Portuguese galleon "Saint Martin" ("São Martinho") was the captain ship commanding the Invincible Armada, during the Iberian Union (when Portugal and Spain were united in the same empire).

Portugal even had galleons like Saint John Baptist ("São João Baptista"), that had 366 pieces of artillery, even in 1533 and was considered the most powerful galleon in the entire world.

They had the most powerful galleons of their time.

So the tv series creative team, probably tried to copy the most powerful Portuguese galleons, and the one in the video wasn't as big but seemed powerful enough, and forgot to exchange the sails symbols.

So we're seeing a Portuguese galleon full of Spanish and with a Spanish flag in the rear, or a Spanish Galleon with Portuguese symbols in their sails. :D

But anyway, any English pirate would regret attacking one of this galleons, being Portuguese or Spanish, if he had a smaller ship and failed to attack the masts.

But if it was the Portuguese "Saint John Baptist", they would have been incinerated by its 366 pieces of artillery specially with their smaller ship.

That galleon only sunk like almost 100 years later in 1622, in Portugal, due to some accident, never at war...

Anyway, if you didn't know the most powerful galleon of the world that time or even in the invincible armada were Portuguese, you now know.
