It's the right of the donors to spend their money where they want to spend it. I would understand the "should have gone to academics" argument if the University of Oregon didn't have one of the very few self sustaining athletic departments. People complaining about this building are complaining about where donors spend their private funds while the state of Oregon provides a mere 7% of the UofO's academic operating costs. Whine about taxpayer money, not someone else's private funds.
