A Busy Night On A Sheep Farm Feeding Sheep!

Feeding sheep at night is part of our daily routines on our sheep farm. Feeding grain to five barns of sheep plus the occasional round bales of hay can make for a busy evening. However, it is also an almost magical time of day as well. With the darkness outside and the crunching of food as the sheep contentedly eat their suppers, it is amazingly soothing and makes for satisfying sheep work or sheep farming. Knowing that your sheep are settled in safely for the night with full bellies and clean pens makes for a good night's sleep for the sheep farmer! Hope you experience the same warm feelings as you watch Arnie complete his night chores!

Good evening Arnie and Lynn. That bale of hay was a nice gold cover. Grain is coming so time for the crunching to begin. I really like the tripod setup so that we can see what Arnie is doing. Listen to those big boys talking. Quite masculine. Arnie I bet Lynn appreciates that you like evenings. I agree with you Lynn. I think sheep are smart. That is one of the reasons you have some lovers because they are glad to have Ewetopia as their home. Clever for sure. Dogs are right there in the action. Looks like job well done. Enjoy the evening. Part your feet up. Big big hugs to you both. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😉😉😉❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I love how the dogs think Arnie is saying 'come on' to them, and they jump in to help, tails wagging.

I really love how the tripod allows Arnie to do his chores while we watch. I could hear the sheep eating their hay which was nice. I hope that you have a great Wednesday, thanks for another wonderful video. ❤🐑

I do believe sheep as well as other animals are smarter than people give them credit for, both my cats know time, better than i thought they did, it is consistant that they wake me up at exactly the same time every morning to eat no matter what! Sheep are no diffferent !

Arnie, I’m with you on favouring night chores over day. I especially loved them in the winter with the snow crunching underfoot, the cold air on the cheeks and the glittering stars in the sky. The Big Dipper and the Northern Lights were always spectacular. ✨
The tripod is awesome! In particular how we can see the sheep waiting for their food and getting more impatient by the second. 😁
Love the soft, deep-throated bleat of the rams. Such big boys! 💛

Just loved how the sheep waited for Arnie to come back even after the bale had been placed unrolled in the feeding area. Amazing to watch how they behave when we're not around. They truly do see us as 'head sheep'.

Lynn, coyotes can't get in through the old ram's entrance into the barn can they? i know they can climb fences sometimes, but you wouldn't think they would bother the sheep with the breeding rams in there do you?

Hi. Thank you very much for your videos; they are not only entertaining but also help to understand what involves keeping sheep. I live in a very similar climate to yours and am planning to start sheepkeeping. As the first step is constructing a barn, I have a question on what kind of bedding you use. I see from videos it is deep litter method, but what is beneath the straw? Is it concrete, dirt, or sand? Is it ok to have a concrete floor with deep litter, meaning it would be wet or dry enough, especially in cold winter months when you have to close the barn, reducing ventilation? It would be helpful if you would cover this topic in the future.
