Are you thinking about making the leap to full-time day trading? Well, I have some real talk for you. Despite the Lamborghinis and fancy lifestyle that you might see on social media, the reality of full-time day trading can be tough.

As someone who's been day trading for over 7 years, I want to share 4 reasons why I sometimes hate day trading. This video isn't meant to discourage you from pursuing your dreams of day trading full-time. I'm here to give you some realistic perspective so that you can make informed decisions about your day trading career path.

In this video, I discuss the four downfalls of day trading full-time: no income stability, constant need to adapt to changing markets, no employment benefits, and extreme loneliness. While day trading full-time offers benefits such as location and time freedom, it's not always glamorous. Without a plan for extra time, boredom trading can lead to disaster. It's crucial to find meaningful projects and passions to maintain mental health and stay connected outside of day trading.

Hope you’re all keeping well ❤ Traders, what do you LOVE & HATE about this career? 👀

I’ve been self-employed for over 40 years, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. As they say, “when you love what you’re doing, you never work another day in your life.” Whether your trading stocks, or running any other business, nothing’s better than controlling your own destiny without a difficult boss breathing down your neck every day, or dealing with office politics.

It depends on your trading style to be honest. I used to day trade and sit on my computer all day at the beginning. But ever since I became a swing trader and started trading like an institution, my trading has improved and I have freed up so much time to focus on family, friends and other things I enjoy doing.

I have experienced nearly everything you commented on in this video, and despite being profitable I always felt like "I wasn't getting it done". If I lost money by the end of the week I thought myself a complete failure. Thanks so much for supporting the community in such a positive way. Your thoughts on trading not just from a technical view but from a psychological view as well show wisdom and insight that few have. Thanks for all of your work.

Great content. New to your channel. A few comments...1) I worked full-time as an engineer. I've experienced many layoffs. Income instability is now common. I prefer to drive my income and future wealth based on my trading results without others deciding my fate. 2) Adaptation is important. However, recognition of a change comes from experience. 3) Work benefits are over-rated. Insurance can be acquired via various streams. Vacation/Sick Days were limited to approval from the boss. I enjoy the freedom to choice. 4) Most engineers are introverts and prefer to work alone. Since leaving my full-time engineer job. I've lost weight, no more high blood pressure medication and learning to play pickleball. I love to day trade. The math skills, pattern recognition and data reduction techniques used in engineering helped quite a bit. Again...great content. Wishing you and your subscribers many "green" days.

Most of the time I prefer being alone, so trading is perfect for me and I enjoy it. Still learning and in the red. Hope 1 day I'll be able to trade professionally like you. Thank you so much for all the tips you shared!

thank you Shay, I totally resonate with the bit where people criterize you on gambling for a living. It's just so hard to get through the fact that not everyone is gonna like you, despite your intention being good and actually pursuing it (building wealth so I and my family can live comfortably). Thank you so much for being there for me

I have seen your vidz before, but this one is your best. You show how difficult FT Trading is and how long and hard you had to work; 18 hour days for 2 years, before you got to where you could go fulltime. Good on you and those who listened! Got my 'like' and my 'subscribe' too!

I'm about to start doing this full-time thanks to this channel. I spent a whole year learning and paper trading. Thanks Shay.

I’m a loner by nature so I don’t mind not interacting with people. I feel most lonely when in socializing. Trading is the only way for me. You are very charismatic so it’s understandable why you need to interact with others. I really enjoy and appreciate your videos. Thanks 🙏

After 3 years of trading I definitely feel the loneliness. Sometimes I miss having coworkers or being part of a something bigger like a company or government. Occasionally the loneliness hits hard but I try to remind myself that the grass is always greener on the other side and that I chose this path because I was tired of office drama and 9-5 lifestyle.
Also I trade in Hawaii lol. It does suck waking up at 1AM to trade but its worth it and you get used to it. Thanks for the video, I could definitely relate to a lot.

It’s stressful, a lot of times I’m more worried about losing most of the money than making it. Maintaining is extremely stressful

THIS IS *HANDS DOWN* ONE OF THE BEST DAY TRADING VIDEOS THAT I HAVE EVER WATCHED! THANK YOU, HT!!!
I started DTing in 1999...self-taught, and way before all the content that exist on the subject today. HT hits on some very good points about Day Trading. Not to be discouraging, but DTing is just like most other professions...IT AIN'T FOR EVERYBODY.
(...but it's definitely for some. And that's ok!)

Yup. At first I thought it was great. I live rural so loved not having to commute. I now have a part time job as a catering server. It means my mornings are still free to trade and I go to parties and get paid for it!
No matter how introverted we think we are, we still all need some human connection.
I can't help but think that having fear while trading just isn't a good combo. To me it's just a game :)
