Journal 3 is arguably one of the most beloved books not just for Gravity Falls, but for any Disney show, period. Despite that though, there are the occasional folks who don't feel the same way and just outright hate it for the most weird reasons.

In this video, we look at the rare 1 star reviews for Journal 3 that are genuinely confusing, yet hilarious!

“I’ve burned the book in my backyard” you know it’s funny because the demon in the series did the same thing

Yea this is very common. I think almost no parent knows that the book in the show is used to fight against a demon. Not help him.

You're not wrong about the saying that every child deserves a parent, but not every parent deserves a child.

These parents are the same ones who don't actually watch the show to check if their kids should watch it because "It's Disney, so it must be innocent!"

I just imagine the reviewer that said they burned the book with the “OUT OF THIS HOUSE! OUT OF THIS HOUSE! Spirits begone from this house!”

As a Christian and a Gravity Falls fan, I have no conflict in my soul over Journal 3 or the show, for that matter. The overall message is great, and it's something these people were missing - the dangers of summoning demons and why you shouldn't do it, trust, kindness, family, found family...

Burning a copy of gravity falls journal 3 is the real occult ritual

The fact that every piece of promotion for the new book of bill is “it is deeply cursed burn it all costs, and whatever you do don’t read it.” Is hilarious seeing that people actually did it. 😂😂

I’m so exited for the book of bill I feel like the people are gonna act like the farmer in the time travelers pig saying “welp time to round up the mob”

My son bought this book and now he's attracted to triangles.
At least he's better at math now.

Sure it has satanic type stuff in the book but it’s not like there’s a step-by-step manual to summon an unholy demon.

I’m so upset that so many people just threw away their perfectly good copies of Journal 3. My copy was held together by glue and scotch tape because my brother and I flipped through it so much that we broke it and failed to repair it with our 12 year old crafts skills. I’d freakin love a new copy and they just tossed theirs smh

Keep in mind for this, I am a Christian, I love Jesus with all my heart, and I have been a Gravity Faller ever since I watched Tourist Trapped on its premiere night.

Here's my take on the whole "Gravity Falls is an occult show" take:

Yes, there are some very dark parts of the show. Yes, there are some occult things in the show. Yes, there is Satanic imagery. Yes, there are some things that will be frightening for younger viewers. But the occult part is not promoted -- in fact, just the opposite. Bill is the Eye of Providence, but he's the villain. The Society of the Blind Eye has cult vibes, but they too are villains. There is nightmare fuel in almost every episode, but again, it's treated as something to be feared and not to be messed with.

Gravity Falls may DEAL in the occult, but it never PROMOTES the occult. The message seems to be "STAY THE HECK AWAY from the occult."

So the parents who banned their kids from watching the show are probably right, depending on what their kids can and cannot handle. Gravity Falls is not for everyone. It's for people who can make a distinction between showing something and promoting it.

EDIT: Nowhere is this more apparent than in the Book of Bill. Bill is the representation of the occult in this show. And the book dove headfirst into who Bill is, how his relationship with Ford went down, and how Ford and others tried to rid themselves of his influence, but all with one clear message: STAY AWAY FROM BILL!!! The stories in the book are eerily similar to stories of real life occultists who, even after they quit working for the demons in their lives, still were haunted by their presence. And, these people found that the only real life cure for demonic influence is a relationship with the demons' Master, Jesus Christ.

Imagine calling "demonic" to a book that used to defeat a literal demon and got burned by it

Im actually rather new to the gravity falls community (i loved the theme song as a kid but only rly watched a couple episodes) and literally binge read journal 3 the other night after rewatching the show once i heard about the new bill cipher book (im so damn excited). I was mainly looking forward to fords journey in the nightmare realm but tbh the part I like most is the beginning where we're following ford at the start of his jorney. I actually started looking at fords character differently after reading about fiddleford and all the trauma he went through. He himself acknowledged how sensitive he was but didnt encourage his best m8 to leave. Yes fiddleford came and stayed by his own free will until it was too late, but he should have encouraged him to leave right after the gremoblin attack. It also kills me to know that so much could have been avoided if he just took the book fiddleford wrote. Mcgucket is literally one of my favorite characters now. Hes so adorable and such a good friend.
