Thanks for your insights - its great that a younger generation are picking up on this great lifetime hobby. I started with some lengths of my great aunt's wandering jew, back in 1971. I grew loads in my bedsit in just garden soil - it thrived in a tub near the window. That devil's ivy of yours would look great in a hanging basket pot, perhaps with a macrame hangar - show off those long dangly bits (though I tend to give in to the urge to snip the trailings off and start another plant). The basket arrangement also suits plants that produce plantlets on stolons, like the chlorophytum (spider plant). We all have our faves, of course. I go for plants with abundant smaller leaves, e.g. Tradescantia "Zebrina". Easy to propagate, grows quickly. There's something addictive about starting off new pups from small chunks of vegetation. My local DIY megastore areas sell pot plants like Peperomias, money plants and the like - there are always broken off leaves etc. on the shelves and floor, due to rough handling by the staff. Once "rescued", they sprout easily with a bit of care and patience. Otherwise, they go in the bin. I do also buy whole ones, but mostly to cannibalise into many plants. I am also a herb fanatic, always starting cuttings of those too.
