It was all good until... (STRANDED!)

The famous Suzuki DRZ400s dual sport motorcycle gets fantastic mileage in comparison to my KTM 250XC two stroke. However, it would be prudent to have a rough idea of what sort of fuel economy the DRZ400 does indeed achieve… Rather than know all that, I decided to set out to find the Trona Pinnacles from Charlies Place, AKA Wagon Wheel campground and OHV area, with hopes and prayers filling my gas tank. And it almost worked! Ironically, the last time I tried this ride back in 2008, a guy in our group also ran out of gas.

Did you know I post a new mountain bike riding tutorial every month? These are ONLY posted to my Patreon page, so join now to see these rad videos! Here’s the full list of my riding tutorials posted through December 2020:

Big thanks to these guys for making this all possible! Any purchases from these links will directly help support my channel as well:

More Moto vids Jeff! Totally cool watching your MTB videos, I'm sure Moto content will be just as fun.

You are definitely braver than me. When you said “About 30 miles” I almost lost it! I’m glad you made it out safe.

I bought a 5g tank for adventure riding for my Yamaha wr250r and it's Awesome. You can get 3g sizes also. They are on Rocky Mountain ATV's website. Totally worth the $300 upgrade. Forgot to mention, crashing the 300# plus bikes are not fun to crash or pick up, but it does happen more often than not haha

Pumped you’ve got a moto channel! Will be great to see some good ol’ PNW trails as well.

Not sure if your bike has it yet but being new to the DRZ world... look into the 3x3 mod to the airbox and jets for the carb. Stock DRZs run super sluggish but there’s more power in there if you increase the air and fuel mix. 👍. Will only cost you like $50-60 too.

Haha, that sucks! I was waiting for this video after seeing your Instagram stories. I never knew those trona pinnaces were out there, but the farthest we ever rode growing up was randsburg

I think for a cheap commuter you can also hit trails with a xr400 or wr400/426 would have been better. They don't have the Estart but there about 70lb lighter than a drz.

1:38 Yeah it's hard to tell what your videos going to look like because chest cam mounts are not very predictable unless you're absolutely used to putting it on the same way and not putting extra clothing or protective gear underneath that might change the camera angle. Chin Kim Mount works best. When I use the mount in the attached video of mine, I never have a problem adjusting the angle because there's an air gap between the back of the camera and the chain bar of full face helmet. I can always tell what the air gap is very quickly with eyesight or just sticking my finger in the area. It's too bad your footage got toasted in this video because the handlebars are blocking everything. That was my problem when I got my GoPro and started using it originally on a motorcycle. Then I got the chin Mount setup in the video below. I also use the same set up on my mountain bike. I attach the mount with zip ties to my bell helmet for mountain biking. I have a removable chin bar on the helmet just in case it's too hot, but since I got my levo eMTB, I don't usually have a problem riding in hot weather with the full face :-)

Do you need a GoFundMe for a larger gas tank or gauge? Just kidding glad you’re good!
