El Catrin y La Catrina are pretty much male and female representations of "The Death", Xolo (pronounced as sholo) and then the actual candy, a sugar skull. Internationally is believed that starts on Nov 1st, but it usually starts on oct 28, (now 27 because it's when we lit candles for our pets that passed away) but we lit candles for specific souls, depending on the day... one is for those who died in an accident, others who died hungry, our great great grandparents, etc. Always nice to see other people learning about our beautiful traditions and am a sucker for these pops, love them (even when El Catrin resembles El Tapatio 😆) and always buy the mexican related ones ❤
