Sri Venkatesha Stotram - Invoking the Lord's Mercy | New Year 2024

Listen to this beautiful rendition of Sri Venkatesha Stotram by the devotees of ISKCON Bangalore. We are happy to offer this video presentation to the lotus feet of Sri Srinivasa Govinda on the auspicious occasion of Sri Vaikuntha Ekadashi 2023.

Sri Venkatesha Stotram is a famous hymn composed by the Sri Vaishnava acharya, Sri Prathivadhi Bhayankaram Aṇṇan. He was a disciple of the illustrious Sri Vaishnava acharya, Sri Manavala Mamuni, and was initiated by him with the name 'Sri Vaishnava Dasan'.

It describes the supreme position of Lord Srinivasa Govinda and His innumerable transcendental qualities.

It concludes with an ardent prayer to the Lord, seeking his causeless mercy and devotional service.

Devotees sing this hymn during the early morning hours in Vaishnava temples for the pleasure of Lord Govinda. It was popularised by the efforts of Bharat Ratna, M. S. Subbulakshmi in recent years. Today, it is common to hear this hymn along with Venkatesha Suprabhata during the morning in Indian households.

O Lord of the Venkata hill, whose chest is smeared with the red kumkuma from the bosom of Lakshmi, with a bluish-black body resembling a newly formed cloud, with eyes resembling a lotus, O Lord of the Universe, may you be victorious!

*Verse 2:*
O Lord of the Vṛṣa (Bull) hill, who is worshipped by Brahma, Kartikeya, Shiva, and all the other gods, the crown jewel of all deities, compassionate towards those who surrender to you, protect me, O Vṛṣa Shailapate!

*Verse 3:*
O Lord of the Vṛṣa hill, full of offenses committed due to the influence of time and ignorance, I am hastening to seek refuge at your feet. With great mercy, protect me, O Hari!

*Verse 4:*
O Supreme Being, residing on the Venkata hill, whose generosity exceeds the desires of the devotees, who is praised by the Vedas as the Supreme Deity, I do not know any other god except you, the beloved of Lakshmi.

*Verse 5:*
I do not think of any other god except Vasudeva's son, who grants joy to the gopikas with his flute, surpassing the love of millions of Kamadevas, and who brings happiness to the hearts of all those who think of him.

*Verse 6:*
O Lord Rama, the treasure house of noble qualities, the unparalleled archer, the courageous one, the protector of the Raghu dynasty, the consort of Sita, O Ramesha, bless me, O ocean of compassion!

*Verse 7:*
O Rama, the most wonderful gem of the Raghu dynasty, whose charming hands are held by Sita, whose face is like the moon, and who defeated Ravana, I do not seek any other refuge except you.

*Verse 8:*
With a pleasing face, a friend, easily approachable, and a giver of happiness, accompanied by your brother Lakshmana, O unfailing archer, I will never worship anyone other than you.
