Man, this song really hits hard! It perfectly describes my childhood and even my life now at 21. I may not be a kid anymore, but I'm still struggling with loneliness. Going through childhood with undiagnosed autism sucks.

“I’m Just a Kid” (2002) is about being a kid and feeling alone, as if no one cared about you. The lyric is delivered with a wink, but it’s rather painful, with lead vocalist Pierre Bouvier singing about being trapped inside the house while everybody else is out having fun (or so it seems). “Every night is the worst night ever, ” he laments.
Along with “I’d Do Anything, ” it’s one of two pieces on their debut album included on the original demo that earned Simple Plan a record deal.
The line “I’m just a kid and life is a nightmare” was put in to push the envelope and make the lay stand out. Another ear-catching lyric on their song “Addicted” (2003) reads “I’m a dick / I’m addicted to you.”

This song describes how I feel as an autistic teenager with stunted social skills due to other kids having not wanted to talk to me, who sees Instagram stories from friends at crazy parties and I wish I could have been there. I've only been to one of these crazy parties and it was amazing. "I try to think about the last time I had a good time" makes me think about that party.
