The video and still photographs of Geoff Bodine's infamous crash during the inaugural NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Daytona in the year 2000 are enough to make a person's knees go weak. The crash was THAT violent.

Todd Bodine was at Daytona that day, watching the race from atop his motorhome. This is his story of that terrible day.

Jeff truly was blessed that night.
I was near tthe catch fence and witnessed Jeff's crash firsthand, I felt the intense heat from the fireball, and watched a truck disintegrate midair while its v8 engine continued to travel several hundred yards through the infield,

Arguably the craziest wreck in NASCAR history...

This and the Michael Waltrip crash (and then Mike Harmon) at Bristol where the cars were cut in half, were freaking crazy. Except for Harmon, the others happened before Earnhardt, so before safety was a big push.

That is the worst looking crash I've ever seen in a NASCAR race. I remember watching live as it happened. At first I thought there was no way the driver could have survived. The truck launched nose first into the catch fence at full speed, then it violently tumbled down the track, was t-boned viciously by another truck at speed, thrown up into the air again, then tumbled some more. And the camera angle made it look like what was left of the truck finally came to rest right in the middle of a fireball. There just wasn't any way someone could survive all of that. I thought that if by some miracle that the driver had survived all of those impacts, he was likely unconscious and would now be consumed by the fire. Thankfully the fire wasn't as bad as it first appeared and wasn't in the cockpit area. I was very relieved to see Geoff moving his arm and reaching up to adjust his oxygen mask as they were wheeling him to the ambulance upon a gurney.

This was God showing us a Miracle.
I have witnessed this with Is Roman Grossian in F1 at Bahrain 2021.

Saw Geoff's truck at the NASCAR HOF years ago. Was looking at the engine, there was a chunk of the block gone and intake was shaved down, thinking how crazy that looked. Turned around, Geoff was standing there. "Heyyyy buddy... you want a picture?" 😆

This and Newman’s 2020 crash are the two wrecks where I was absolutely sure I had just witnessed a fatality.

Makes me think of the Sportsman Division with all its horrible wrecks. Would be interesting to have a show about that series.

"According to DIS Director of Communications Glyn Johnston, at 6:30 p.m. ET Bodine's injuries included a concussion; multiple bruises and lacerations; a fractured, lacerated and burned right wrist; a sprained left toe; and a "non-surgical" mid-back fracture to a vertebra."

Weird definition of perfectly fine 😂
