I'm #15 of 16. 2 sets of twins. No pediatric deaths. The older kids did not take care of the younger ones in the capacity that people think. My mother was the primary daily care giver. My dad worked. It was normal for there to be larger families in the 50's & 60's, where moms did the house managment & dads worked. There were several large families within 2 blocks of each other when i was growing up.

My mom also did NOT babysit for any of her many grandchildren either😂. She didn't lean on anyone, sooo you have them, you gotta take care of them. 😂Shes always been a force, and has made all of us stronger for it. Her reward? She celebrated her 100th birthday this year.✌️

I think because she also had some miscarriages the number was slightly above 20. I remember watching the episodes that by the time baby Josie was born there were medical concerns about her getting pregnant anymore and that she should stop. I understand that the Duggars wanted to have as many as possible but there’s a limit to how much the body can do. My heart goes out to every woman dealing with pregnancy, just one is tough as is!

My grandad was one of 18, no twins, no miscarriages. Which is just insane for the 1930s.

I have 5 kids under 10 years old. The oldest is 9, the youngest is 1. We home school, & were fortunate enough to not have to send our babies to daycare, I do it all. It's a 24/7 job, no breaks. There's days I get overwhelmed, & feel like pulling my hair out. I don't know how I'd manage having 18, or 19 kids.. my God

I'm one of 14 kids, and boy I think about ALL my moms pregnancies. She was pregnant in 4 decades. So crazy!

She did not go crazy because she had her oldest children helping raise them. That’s ridiculous! If you want 20 kids, you and their dad should be caring for them.

I think one of the reasons the mother didn't go crazy was the fact the older kids had specific younger kids to take care of. She was not full time caretaker to all of the kids.

I had 3 and i was scared and grossed out every time. I lost my 4th. I coudlnt imagine doing that many more times. She probably didnt go that crazy cuz she had the older to help with the young ones

This is the girl from the Duggar family? Damn I had no idea. Didn’t the show get cancelled because one of the sons was molesting the other girls and the parents knew but didn’t put a stop to it ???
