5:04 I prefer a collapsible daypack over a sling. It’s smaller when compressed and large enough to use for sailing outings or overnight use.

I’ve always carried a tiny pen with me, but I’ve struggled with what to write on. My most recent technique is to cut some pieces of watercolor art paper the size of a credit card and put it in the credit card slot in a wallet. They’re extremely durable and water resistant. If I need to make a note, I can take one of those out and write on it. They’re also good for giving your contact information to other travelers you want to keep in touch with later. I only carry two or three at a time and it’s always been enough. Much more efficient and take up our less space than any kind of notebook I’ve run across.

The problem with using the USB ports on a travel adapter is that they are usually SO MUCH SLOWER than using a decent charger, especially a 20 or 30 watt charger. The time saving when having to wait for charging makes it worth carrying a good charger, in addition to the travel adapter.

8:58 Apple has a travel journal app. I find it easier to use than a notebook. Especially when you can add photos, hiking trails and dictate your experiences.

When I’m one-bagging it, I take a few pair of gel soles and rotate them out in lieu of having more than one pair of shoes.

For myself, I would prefer not to putting all important documents/tickets on my phone. That single point of failure can be much worse if literally everything you need goes away if you drop your phone or just run out of battery charge. I mean paper docs/tickets take so little space.

I like the HumanGear Duo over the uno. It takes up similar space when packed, but it's much longer when assembled. The fact that it can be used a two totally separate utensils has saved me or rather my trip partner on multiple occasions. It gives redundancy which i really like. The long reach also keeps my hands out of my food and let's me eat out of the tall takeout containers you sometimes get. Overall very functional utensil.

There are two things I can’t seem to travel without. Even on my trip to Detroit earlier this year (PH HQ was awesome -thanks Lauren!) there are two things I can’t travel without. My Trail series Hydroflask and. my Grayl Ti water purifier. I can’t tell you how many plastic water bottles it saved. I can purify the tap water and remove the flavor and smell (along with most of the chemicals) and keep it nice and cold in my Hydroflask. It saves money at every turn not having to buy bottled water aside from the initial cost of the Gray Ti and it saves time running to the store just to get some water. I don’t really like drinking out of any plastic or pouch and prefer water cold or hot and no where in between. 😊 Not the most minimal but a concession I always make. This works especially well in Mexico.

A pill organiser is going to really impress the Customs/Border staff when you say "trust me, all these pills are legit" - take it in original packaging and just try to get bottles/packs that are the closest to the Qty you need.

Forr slings, cheap collapsible messenger bags also work fine for day carrry and I've even hiked up mountains with them. Might get them for free at some cons or otherr events. For water bottles, I generally buy in the destination country which may attrract a deposit, but it keeps me from having to pack it. And I can still refill it on the go.
If you are a camera-carrying travellerr, there are battery chargers that double as battery banks using the camera batteries of your choice. So use it mainly for keeping your camera running, but can power your phone if you are in trouble, saves from packing a dedicated battery bank. These usually include some SD card slots or even an SD card reader for even more room savings.
Plastic rain ponchos are smaller and more comfortable than umbrellas or jackets if you are heading to a hot clime. Some fit in packages as small as the packable bag.
For cutlery and quick fixes, I also have a tiny swiss army knife (about 3cm, not the standard 5cm that may sometimes be confiscated by airport security) that has a knife, file, fladhead screwdriver, scissors, pliars and a toothpick. Substitutes bigger tools and also covers nailcare on the go. Fits as a keychain. Though some prefer the credit card format swiss army 'knife' for travels.

I used a passport wallet which fell out of my backpack when I hadn’t zipped up at the airport parking lot. Gone was my id, passport, credit cards and cash. It was a nightmare, I never recommend one.

When I fly, I have to have a pillow. But those travel neck pillows are so bulky and awkward, I ditched them and went with an inflatable backpacker's pillow. It's super lightweight, rolls up smaller than a can of soda, and inflates just large enough to keep my head comfy against an airplane bulkhead.

A passport *cover* is a pain: take the passport out, put the passport in. No thanks. If you want your passport IN something, get a passport WALLET. A good option for wallets that wasn’t mentioned is Big Skinny. They even have RFID versions. (No, I don’t work for them, just a long time user).

Don't get American Express like the picture. They don't really take that one in a lot of places

For utensils there are many people who might not like the feeling of combination utensils and in those cases Outlery might be the right choice. It's basically the size of a metal altoids tin but has a travel safe knife as well as a decent sized fork and spoon.

For our next trip, we are switching our 4-wheel carry-on suitcases to carry-on-sized backpacks (much lighter) and our small personal-sized backpacks to over-the-shoulder bags. Even though my large DSLR camera takes better pictures than my small pocket-sized travel camera, I am taking it because the new AI photo software available will quickly make its pictures look just as good. We already do everything else on your video. Another great video!

I live overseas in a place where I can go through 4 different countries in 1 day. I have a Kate Spade wallet that holds my passport, multiple currencies and credit cards. I also travel across Europe/EU for work. Lots of currencies. I’ve used these for more than 10 years. Ladies, this is a no-brainer.

A lot of museums and convert venues only do digital tickets now, which I was surprised by, but its been pretty good, I do think there is a need to have an extra battery for your phone while travelling these days because you frequently need it for a lot of entry/exit stuff on trains etc.

I've been packing my spare eyeglasses in my shoes for ages, this might be the first time I've seen a tip suggesting using that extra space inside your shoes. Especially shoes that can't be compressed very much, it's a ton of unused space!

Some of this is borderline self greenwashing. A plane flight back-and-home LAX-BKK is 4500 kg CO2, a pair of disposable plastic cutlery is around 0.0374 kg of CO2.
