Honestly, visiting abandoned and or supposedly "haunted" places is something I imagine doing when I grow older. I love researching the history of abandoned places and exploring there.

I live in a place that has a rich history of mining. It isnt the people you just have to worry about in old abandoned buildings but also the potential environmental and chemical hazards.

Yeah when I was homeless I thought, I'll go to an abandoned building, cause then I have a roof over my head, I went to an abandoned farm house and found these 4 women living in it, I was terrified at first but then we all kind of had an understanding and they took me in, we genuinely lived there for like a year and a half, none of us were drug addicts or anything like that we just had no where else to go and the only thing we had was each other and the building

This isn't a trend, its called Saturday afternoon and as kids we did this before smart phones and social media was a thing. The only real risk we saw was trespassing 😂

The thing with social media is that "trends" have the possibility of spreading potentially dangerous activities to too wide of an audience. Urbexing has existed for a long time, but it was usually done responsibly with lots of research and preparation beforehand. While one may argue that it's good how the internet is popularizing previously niche hobbies, people who choose to engage with these activities should be more aware of the risks that they are taking by doing so.
