“That Is An Issue” | 9.4 Million Brits Unemployed And On Benefits

Official figures have shown that more than 9.5 million Brits were out of work and not actively seeking employment between April and June this year.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) revealed that the number of economically inactive individuals in the UK, when not seasonally adjusted, was at its highest level since 2011.

Big difference between disabilities and unemployed. Government is always happy to punish people who need extra support, but keep paying for immigrants and foreign aid. I have a disability, struggle but work full time and I can tell you I can’t get any support. They make pip a nightmare for genuine people to claim it.

I know someone who works in a BA office in London. Their database regularly flags up 5-15 claimants registered at one address, she reports these to her manager who reports it to theirs and so on but nothing ever happens. Most of these claimants are from Romania, Bulgaria and the Balkans and probably returned there years ago.

Tempted to join them. Makes me feel sick that I have to pay tax to this government to waste and give to everybody.

Very nice people just moved in next door, been in the country for 9 months, private rental £1300 per month, husband in his 50s doesn’t work, wife can’t speak a word of English doesn’t work, 3 children and another on the way. This can’t be right pensioners will be struggling to heat their homes and governments are giving money to people who have paid in nothing.

This last year, I did a plumbing level 2 diploma, there were 6 adult men in the class with me, not one of us have been able to progress to the NVQ qualification, because no one wants to hire adults or women in construction, they want cheap teenagers in their apprenticeship or there aren't enough places to begin with, even though there is a deficit of workers in the construction industry. The government has it set up so that regardless of your work ethic or merit, (I got a distinction, ) you cannot progress! Now they are getting rid of NVQs in favour of T qualifications that adults are completely unable to access. If you can't get a plumber or builder or electrician, its not because people don't want to work, its because of the road blocks stopping them.

Why should one work and save to buy a house when others get a home for free, and all their bills paid, and free healthcare?
What is the insensitive for someone to spend 3/4 of their life working/sleeping?

Certain people do abuse the system yes but when you have an NHS as broken as we do what do you expect, I have physically been waiting for a standard operation that takes 45 mins for 8 pis£ing months before but no word its absolute joke our country will collapse very soon

I have a Physics degree. I've applied for hundreds of unskilled jobs. I can't even get a job as a cleaner or kitchen porter. There's no magic job tree. What with so many businesses going under and all the automation.

Or the ones that literally live in Pakistan, but come back here whenever they have a benefits review?🤔

20 years ago I was earning £8, 000 and my girlfriend tried to sign on. She was told that I earnt enough to keep the pair of us. I'd demand to see stats about these 9m people. Age, gender, race, any work history. There is lots of benefit fraud going on so what are they doing to crack down on it?

The uk 30-40 years ago was full of factories that manufactured products that were sold all over the world. All of those jobs are now gone to countries who are doing it 3x cheaper. Jobs that men for decades wanted to actually do were all slowly taken away.

We're paying out benefits with money we don't have. Uk's debt is heading towards £3, 000, 000, 000, 000, if we don't somehow get that under control we are in huge trouble. Nevermind raising taxes, stop giving money to everyone with their hand out.
