The NBA is expanding…

And everybody knows it

We have LeBron out here openly campaigning to be the owner of one of the teams. Seattle fans BEGGING for the Sonics to come back - the commissioner of the NBA Adam Silver has openly said that next up on the agenda for the league, is to add AT LEAST 2 new teams.

Which is a super exciting thing for the league but you might be wondering… how does this work, why is the NBA doing it, where are the teams going to be, and when will this happen?

Memphis needs to be moved to the east where they should've been to begin with

Seattle could bring in a team tomorrow. They have an arena, brand, and fan base

Would be cool if KD went to Seattle to finish his career

I think Seattle deserves an NBA Team. We all miss the Sonics glory years.

Seattle getting the Sonics back would be the best kind of feel good story. Honestly if they wanted to they could be back in the league sooner than 2027. Seattle already has the name, the colors, and the arena. They just need an owner

Seattle and Vancouver should have never lost their teams, attendance was not the issue in Vancouver yet the team was brutal, GM Jackson passing on local player Steve Nash is still mind numbing. 🤷🤷

Quebec has one of the most modern stadium in Canada and it doesn't even have a purpose right now. The city's cost of living is also very low for such a big city so they do have the disposable income to spend on NBA games. They're desperate for a big sports team. I think it would work nicely as a 2nd Canadian team.

If I was at the end of the bench, I would be thrilled to get chosen, because if I got to a new expansion team and there are no established stars, I'd have a higher chance of getting minutes. Rather than being the 9th man in the rotation.

Vancouver and Seattle.

I still say Vegas shouldn't get a team, but it should become the headquarters.
Have all the events take place.
Lottery, combine, Draft, regular summer league, In-season tournament (maybe some Allstar events during that week as well)
Any game 7s, where the teams have a tied regular season record.

They should also have the biggest NBA facility, that'll allow all the Players to have a workout spot. Maybe players create their summer league, like the drew league.

I'd be like the "Capital City" of the NBA.

You overlooked the league's new harsher Luxury Tax penalty fueling expansion. If the NBA [ideally] abolishes "superteams" in the next 2-3 years, there's a great opportunity for expansion teams to become competitive quickly. By the way I propose the following 4 divisions of 8 teams assuming Seattle and Vegas are the expansion teams. 4 divisions of 8 teams works great for the NHL and I think it would have similar success in the NBA.
Southeast: Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, Charlotte, Washington, New Orleans, Memphis, Houston
Northeast:: Toronto, Boston, New York, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Indiana, Detroit
Southwest: Dallas, San Antonio, OKC, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Lakers, Clippers, Golden State
Northwest: Chicago, Milwaukee, Minnesota, Denver, Utah, Portland, Seattle, Sacramento

There are so many possibilities for a funny Las Vegas team name. The Las Vegas Money Line, the Las Vegas Spread, the Las Vegas Strippers, etc. But I'm sure they'll go with something boring. The Las Vegas Lions or something.

St. Louis deserves a team, they'd be a great market

Travel wise it needs to be Minnesota moving to the Eastern Conference. Memphis and NOLA are further east but are a lot closer to the other teams in the southwest division. Minnesota is very far from the other teams in the Northwest Division and are right next to the teams in the Central Division. Makes more sense to just move them East.

Move the Timberwolves and Pelicans to the eastern conference and put the SuperSonics and the Vegas Blackjacks in the western conference

I started to really get into the NBA after I watched the Sonicsgate documentary over a decade ago now. I've been waiting for them to come back since. Bring back the SuperSonics!

I tend to think Minnesota would be better in the East. The Wolves would have nearby potential new rivals with the Bucks, Bulls, & Pistons, just like the Vikings do in the NFC North.
