I have heard this issue that if you use remote start, and then just sit there in gear, the software would bug out. It seems like the software engineer didn't check the code for remote starting and it's buggy.

Honda is the worst for supporting their vehicles which is a shame. I have had issues with Honda of America and they will do nothing and make you harass them to get any response at all. Also, they are not nearly as reliable as is claimed. They do have great designs as far as functionality and their V6 is excellent and the Pilot is probably the best SUV made in it's class.

Just so you know. You can press the lock and engine start button once and not have to hold the engine start until the vehicle starts.

This is a very common problem with Hondas not just pilots. I saw in the video several warning lights and not just transmission. Follow these steps:

1- Check battery connections making sure are clean and tight. This can cause a glitch in the system as any interruption of electricity can cause warning lights to cone on at once.
2- disconnecting battery without saving preset settings. "Hard start" is necessary as presets for throttle plate, radio codes, idling speed, etc are lost. Disconnect both battery cables, (negative first, then positive) then touch them together for 25 seconds, without touching battery posts, of course. Then, reconnect battery cables, positive first then negative. This should have reset the ECU.
3- A bad fuse or multi fuse. Blown fuses or fuse link burned. Check all fuses making sure no filaments are burned or severed.
4- harnesses loose, not connected properly or a wire within the harness frayed or damaged.
5- car needs a software update. For that contact dealer.
6- if it was a transmission problem "D" light would be flashing continuously. This indicates not necessarily a problem with the transmission but rather transmission fluid pressure sensors. Place a scan tool to pull out trouble code.

What is the update on this issue? I just bought a 2018 Pilot Touring, and I am getting a weird smell. Somewhat like burning oil or asphalt.

Yup I'm staying away from from the elite, touring, black edition they all use the 9 spd transmission. Stay with the lx, ex, exl models 6 spd models

Lemon law bro. We bought our 2019 Pilot Touring AWD 7P. No issues like this when using remote start. Got 28K miles on it in just 2years. Been keeping up with the maintenance. I feel bad foe you man this shouldn’t happen on a brand new truck. They should replace it or fix it.

I have a 2021 Pilot AWD Touring with the 9 speed trans, I use the remote start all the time, no issues. Just change the oil at 15k. At 30k I'll change the trans oil and the rear Diff oil.

I have a 2019 Honda Pilot touring. It has started making a sound when it changes gears. Sounds like im running over a piece of metal and it thuds a little. Anybody else have this problem? Mostly 4th into 5th or 5th to 4th.

I have 2020 ExL and I am hearing knocking/clicking noise that was not there before. I took it back to the dealer but they said they can not hear it. Sent them video and they said they will not fix it. Where can we complain about this?

Untill the higher speed transmission are more look at and being fix, i rather stick to the good old style 6 speed transmission
