Back in the day, the worst that could happen was a rejection, maybe an impolite/rude rejection, even.
Nowadays, there's women who would try and ruin your reputation and activists who support that and lawmakers who make laws to help them with it.
"Why aren't men approaching women any more?" Because too many women have told them not to do it. You're supposed to know if she's attracted to you before you're even looking at her.

I'm 21, have never been on a date, asked, or had anybody ask to go on a date. A couple of days ago, I finally managed to ask my crush if he was single. He wasn't, but I'm so proud of myself for asking! I just straight up asked him and when he said he had a girlfriend i said well no worries then i just wanted to let you know i think your really cute and i really enjoy talking to you.
