My parents came from México, LEGALLY decades ago! They learned the language first thing, and got legal jobs, not paid "under the table."

My parish has a heavy Latino population. The schools I worked also have a big Latino population. The thing I've noticed is that after the second generation the kids start losing their faith.

When I was teaching school, I would see adorable kindergarten immigrants come to school with their new backpacks, hair combed, little dresses on the girls etc. By 7th grader they were 'monsters!' The parents were baffled! 😱

My grandparents and great grandparents were immigrants too. We don't know anyone back in Ireland, the family all eventually left. Catholic until the 1970's, these cousins didn't all lose their faith, but it's become watered down. Sad that many current Mexicans have set their faith aside like the Irish have. So happy there are those of us who still live it here. God bless America, the place we all call home. So much respect for you Jesse. Praying for us all in these tribulating times.

MY MOTHER WAS BORN IN 1908 in the USA, when she was 21 years old her family went back to Mexico and my mother and her siblings went with their parents. My mother married my father in Mexico where all her seven children were born. In 1952 my mother decided to come back to the USA and all her children were accepted as US citizens and my father received his Green card!

We lived in Mexico City, my father worked for a company and he had to travel a lot, USA gave him a permission to travel just for 50 Km, no more, so he went several times just for shopping and it was very easy for the people buy and sell things.
