India's Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO) has progressed the development of its Phase II Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) interceptor through a flight test conducted on 24 July.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) in New Delhi said the endo-atmospheric interceptor – also known as the AD-1 missile – was launched from the DRDO's integrated test range (ITR) in Chandipur, Odisha, on India's east coast.

According to the MoD, the new test featured the launching of a target missile from the DRDO's ITR or Integrated Test Range on Abdul Kalam Island, about 70 km or 44 miles south of Chandipur, at 1620 h local time. The Phase II interceptor was launched four minutes later.

In this video, Defense Updates analyzes how India is developing a powerful Anti Ballistic Missile system that only a few nations possess?

The reason why the second stage is liquid is that they can throttle the the speed with liquid fuel. Until very recently, a solid stage motor can't be thottles (i.e. they are ignited and it is on till burnout), which is fine to quickly get the missile up to speed and altitude. The terminal phase needs finer adjustments that only liquid fuel can provide, at least for now.

India today is self dependent on missile technology, radars, nuclear submarine technology, aircraft carriers & satellites but sadly imports guns from foreign countries be it the US SIG guns or the russian AK203 isn't it astonishing!

Nice video! Well made, well constructed. But you missed ASAT. ( Mission Shakti) which was a great success with pinpoint accuracy. India successfully demonstrated it's war readiness even if it goes to the space levels.

5m40s Funny how you talk about a phased radar, and showing an (ai generated) classical dish-based radar monitor.

Its not that few nations posse
its few can afford
and even fewer have the need
India's problem is that they are supplied by Russia who also supplies China so they need to have their own system

Not very convincing. Let’s see it hit an actual ballistic missile traveling at Mach 15 (actual speed of an inbound ballistic missile).
