Knicks fans should be very ashamed about current 2023 NBA All-Star votes
The New York Knicks have rebounded from their five-game losing streak with three consecutive wins thanks to the efforts of Julius Randle and Jalen
Brunson. Randle’s in the midst of quite the bounce-back season, which has led many to believe that he’ll be named an All-Star for the second time in his career. However, the current number of fan votes doesn’t reflect that.
On Thursday, NBA released the first fan returns, and to say that it was a disappointment for Knicks fans would be an understatement. Before looking at the returns, the expectation was that fans would at least see Randle’s name, however, that wasn’t the case.
Instead, Derrick Rose has received the ninth-most votes amongst Eastern Conference guards with 220,229. Rose is averaging a career-low 5.8 points and 12.9 minutes per game. There seems to be a strong possibility
that he won’t even be on New York’s roster by the time All-Star Weekend is here.Knicks’ Julius Randle, Jalen Brunson left off 2023 NBA All-Star first fan returnsA major change to NBA All-Star voting was put into place this season. Instead of being able to vote via Twitter, votes can now only be
cast on the NBA app or at NBA.com and fans must make an NBA ID account (it’s free to create one) to vote. Perhaps that’s why Julius Randle nor Jalen Brunson were even listed on the first fan returns, but regardless, Knicks fans should be embarrassed.
Both Randle and Brunson should be representing New York at All-Star Weekend in Salt Lake City this season. Randle is averaging a career-high 24.2 points to go with 10 rebounds and 3.8 assists. Like Randle, Brunson is averaging a career-high 20.8 points as well Being named an All-Star is
always worthy of a celebration, but it would be cause for an even larger celebration for Randle and Brunson. Randle had a disappointing 2021-22 season that led to fans wanting to see him traded and Brunson bet on
himself and received a four-year, $104 million contract from the Knicks in free agency and deserves to be named an All-Star for the first time.
Knicks fans, do your part to send Randle and Brunson to Salt Lake City. To vote
