The maneuver of a Chinese warship in the Taiwan Strait during an encounter with a U.S. destroyer was completely reasonable, legal, professional and "safe," a spokesperson at China's foreign ministry said at a press conference on Monday in Beijing.

The U.S. Navy released a video on June 4 of what it called an "unsafe interaction" in the Taiwan Strait, in which a Chinese warship crossed in front of a U.S. destroyer, the USS Chung-Hoon, in the Taiwan Strait on Saturday. Global News captured the incident while on board the HMCS Montreal — a Canadian Navy ship.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said the U.S. "caused trouble and provocation in the first place," while China acted in a law-abiding manner.

The U.S. military said the Chung-Hoon and Canada's HSMC Montreal, a frigate, were conducting a "routine" transit of the strait when the Chinese ship cut in front of the U.S. vessel, coming within 137 metres.

The US Navy and Air Force should have explicit perimeters around their warships and aircraft. Any breach means elimination from existence. Ridiculous that potential adversaries can get that close.

There is no way China to block or make it as there waters. Internatinal waters for free trade is essential.

In other news Chinese propaganda is rated as boring. I would rather watch a soft drink commercial.

"CCP will share South China Sea."
"Hong Kong, one country two systems."
"Uyghurs are happy."
"Taiwan will be reunited peacefully with CCP China.😁"

This is clearly a deliberate provocation. The Chinese ship is intentional. Taiwan Strait is an international waterway. The PLA ship has no right to block others. Should get more nations to sail their naval ships through Taiwan Strait, an important international waterway. US, Canada, UK, Australia, Japan, S. Korea, Germany, France, etc.

Better destroy the chinese ship next time. China has never won a war. They seem to forget about that.

First of all, that is not merely an International waters, the Taiwan strait is China's Exclusive Economic Zone, and what you did was not free passage, you were flexing muscle and spying on Chinese activities, US and Canadian warships has been staying in that region for months, spying on Chinese military exercise, so dont play victim

Lol, Americans have their moments of incompetence and rage. So be obedient, take care of your warships and planes, and don't stray too far from home.

The US and Canadian warships are on China's doorstep, the Taiwan Strait. How do you expect the Chinese Navy to respond? Lie down and roll over...professionally? Hell No! Imagine the Chinese warships also came near the coast of San Francisco to have a little fun with the so-called "freedom of navigation." How would the US react? The US would go nuts and could be more nuts than the "Chinese spy balloon" incident. Okay, the US has this hegemonic mentality: I am the 800-pound gorilla I can sleep everywhere I want to. Well, the jungle has changed. Venturing into another 800-pound gorilla's backyard is not a good idea. Staying away from each other is the safest policy. Or else a fight will be inevitable.

Well done China that's the ways to deal with aggressors who came from thousands miles away.

When u are constantly instigating trouble n provoking others in their front yard, this by itself constitutes a threat, n a violation of international law. These troublemakers deserved to be treated "unprofessionally" once in a while.
