As someone who has lost their older consoles through family tragedy, i would happily spend the extra 100 for backwards compatability! I may not have the console, but i still have my games....waiting to be replayed ❤

Something to keep in mind the displayed French price includes a hefty sales tax (VAT) Which is 20% in France.
If this is the accurate French price, the US price will most likely be USD 499 for blu ray and 399 USD for digital version :)
So for people freaking out who are doing straight up euro to USD conversion, don't freak out. Sales taxes are much less in US.

Considering decent smartphones can range between approx 600 - 1200.. 500 for a games console is a steal

Whilst I appreciate that for many it will primarily be a games console, the disc version will support playback of 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray discs which will make it a very cost effective way of doing so. Especially if the discrepancy in price between the disc and discless versions ends up only being £100. At present, it typically costs double that to obtain even a bog standard 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player. It's a no-brainer for those who still value physical media as they'll have the flexibility of 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc playback as well as potential backwards compatibility with PS4 game discs and whatever other legacy console discs that might entail. I'm a little taken aback that this wasn't touched upon in the video. Scott's usually really good when it comes to those sorts of details as well.

Dont forget the ratio is always 1:1 for euros and usd. So practically it will be 499 for the disk and 399 for the digital in the US.

Just remember the Atari Video Computer System, or VCS (later renamed 2600 when the 5200 was released). The introductory price of $199 (equivalent to $894 in 2019) included a console, two joysticks, a pair of paddles, and the Combat game cartridge. So it is a deal🤔

You can build incredible PCs for around £5-600, now, respectably l especially if you buy second hand, however those are almost certainly lower performance in games, but more useful overall.

When you consider the price of phones, back when the ps4 released the latest iPhone was £650 and the ps4 was about £450ish, the current iPhone is £1k so roughly a 50% increase is what we should be expecting, something in the region of £700, for it to be £500 is a freaking steal
