MST RMX 2.0 RTR - Box Stock Build Series Week 7 - Scale Science

Join us as we take the plunge into the old days for us and show newcomers the easiest way to take their ready to run cars and get into doors at their local track!

We spent a total of $150 in week 7 adding a set of Yokomo SBBS Big Bore dampers with all the fixings! The ride quality, stability and overall feel between these dampers and stock is more than noticeable. Out on the wide line and making snap transitions while riding max angle is my favorite benefit from this upgrade! The lineup of Mods harmonize well and really leaves us with one last needed feature... TIME FOR A NEW POWER PLANT!

A trick we do on Tekno 8th scale cars is cut the spring collar oring in half and just use half of it. Perfect middle ground between easy to adjust and confidence in consistency of your settings. They all but don’t turn when you use the whole oring on Teknos so it’s necessary with them.

So my kit came with gold springs for the rear. I think I will grab a reve d spring pack to play with a bit. I see others have mentioned that being a ton of spring load. Wish I had paid closer attention to the piston details and I'm also curious still about the different o rings and pink vs grey diaphragms on these shocks. Next time I rebuild maybe

Questions maybe you guys have tried Hobbywing Drift motor and ESC? How does it compare to the Acuvance system?

yea taking my stock motor and esc rmx to the track i realize how underpowered i am too, whenever people get behind me i cant keep their pace and chasing they lose me in the faster corners

That seems like an insane amount of preload front and rear. Why not switch to R-tune springs; soft in front, med in rear

One thing, from a newb, that would be helpful is WHY are you doing the mods? I think it is clear that the radio was a big issue with the low sampling rate. What was the deficit with the gyro, setup, etc.? :) REALLY enjoying the series, I am building a drift track in our 14x24 shed and my RMX 2.0 S15 will be delivered today cheers!

ever tried putting just 1-2 drop of oil in the dampener instead of flling them full? saw a guy do that in a vid and hed been rc drifting for 30 years alongside some pros.
