GST is an indirect tax which has certain characteristics: it is comprehensive, multi-stage tax (such as purchase, production, warehousing, sale), value-added tax and destination based tax. These four phrases contain the synopsis of GST needed for general studies syllabus. If you are plainly asked about GST, these four features should suffice your definitional purpose of GST in Economics General studies or Interview or an essay on GST.

GST is obviously needed for indirect taxes (as not much problem exists with respect to collection of taxes).Dr. Vikas goes on to explain how GST is comprehensive, how it subsumes the various taxes at various levels (some products like Petroleum attract no GST, the video provides clear explanation in Hindi for students) and the various factors within the GST for a complete concept understanding of GST for Hindi medium students. GST has revolutionized the Indian taxation system and is obviously a very important topics for GS Mains and Prelims exams at various civil services exams.

Video is full of humor and interesting explanations and anecdotes (like that of Rajiv Gandhi, Devilal etc going in full history and evolution of tax regime)for a simpler understanding of economic concepts needed for students. पूरी दृष्टि टीम और विकास सर को बहुत बहुत धन्यवाद इस सीरीज के लिए। दूर दराज के विद्यार्थियों को विकास सर से पढ़ने का अवसर नही मिल पाता वह कुछ हद तक पूरी हो गयी।
