Not to be critical... But he's worried about "hurting the roots"? Aren't you supposed to aggressively try and loosen up the root ball (even taking a utility knife and slicing if necessary) before planting? Also, It looks like he planted this too low. Sky Pencils are susceptible to root rot and I believe they are to be planted on the higher side?
