Mr. Kimura's work is among the most famous and important of contemporary Bonsai in Japan. His new and radical approach to how he styled Bonsai was first seen as breaking with (too) many traditions, but soon he was widely recognized and respected.

I've been to Kimura's Bonsai Garden, it is incredibly impressive. His level of Bonsai is in a class of it's own, it's no wonder he has won the top Bonsai competitions far more than anyone else. すごい!

There's something magical about this bonsai garden that is so serenely captured here. Master Kimura mentions the "simple" tree that he thinks will win the Kokufu-ten prize. What is "simple" here for a broad sumo-like shimpaku - is it natural, not artificial, unsophisticated, not contrived? We need to hear more from the master as much little as we see. Thanks.
