Imagine for a moment if this were real footage...yes it is a movie and this is not based on facts, just a fun theory if you will. :)

1. In my opinion and best guess, the skin would either split or become so thin the wings would start to emerge and bleed at least a little. Also, the wings would've formed from somewhere between the layers of skin so that no muscle would be visible, get damaged or infected by any loose quills.

2. The guy would be breathing heavily as the pressure of his wings would be pressing against his chest and lungs so this is accurate to the footage and shoulder rolling would help in freeing the wings immensely.

3. I assume it would be much like labour pain and he would have to push his wings out in bursts. Not all at once, it wouldn't be humanly possible. And obviously it would hurt.

4. Realistically like newly hatched chicks, the wings wouldn't come out with clean, mature feathers. It would be mostly bloody and featherless except for a few quills and the mature feathers would appear at least a few months after the 'baby' feathers had formed.
