The National Eucharistic Congress, an initiative by the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops, aims to help Catholics deepen their understanding of the faith, specifically the Eucharist. The Congress, which takes place from July 17th to 21st, 2024, is a response to a 2019 Pew Research Center survey that found many Catholics do not believe in the doctrine of transubstantiation. The upcoming Eucharistic procession is a historical and meditative experience for recognizing Christ's presence among us and is part of the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage. The pilgrimage involves carrying the consecrated host in a monstrance and has attracted thousands of individuals, inspiring curiosity and witnessing to those who may not fully understand the teachings of the church regarding the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. Father Leo emphasize the importance of returning to Jesus as the source of communion and unity within the Church and encourage attending the Eucharistic Congress to deepen one's connection to Christ. He also criticizes the lack of consistent catechesis on the Eucharist in parishes and encourage using resources like the teaching series on the mass to better understand the faith.

00:00:00 The National Eucharistic Congress, set for July 17-21, 2024, aims to deepen Catholics' understanding of the Eucharist in response to a 2019 survey on transubstantiation beliefs.

00:05:00 The Eucharistic procession highlights the transformation of bread and wine into Christ's body and blood, part of the Bishops' educational effort.

00:10:00 The procession involves young people carrying a monstrance through streets, with Bishop Muggenburg discussing its impact on understanding Jesus' presence.

00:15:00 Bishop Muggenburg emphasizes Christ's presence in the Eucharist for unity, mentioning small group studies and a pilgrimage from Orange County to Indianapolis.

00:20:00 Pilgrims share their nine-month journey experience, involving preparation, prayer, singing, and public interactions to revive faith through the Eucharist.

00:25:00 The pilgrimage sees a strong response, with Franciscan Friars' involvement and promotion of the Eucharistic Congress, expecting over 60,000 attendees and a cooking demonstration.

00:30:00 Praise for the Church's Eucharist promotion but a call for consistent catechesis in parishes, encouraging Congress registration and daily living of the Eucharist.

The Pilgrimage came to my neck of the woods, Folsom CA. I’m a Pentecostal Christian turning catholic and I love that the church is doing this. I couldn’t get the time off work to join in on the fun but I think this revival of the Eucharist is going to bring a lot of non Catholics back to the faith. I hope they do this like annually or semi annually and I hope to join on the future pilgrimage.

Pray for my family, I want our two sons to go to the local Catholic school so badly, but we cannot afford it, and we budget hard. I’m a sty at home mom but have been nannying for those who can’t afford daycare.
Well, and the scholarships are for Catholics only, which I respect. We are strong, wholehearted Christians without waiver, not Catholic, yet. I’ve been learning so much and going to Saturday night mass….. but my husband is strong Protestant and I’m trying to respect him in marriage too. He won’t convert. But, Anyway! I want my boys to be raised in the Catholic faith school…. 😢❤

The young Texas lady was so shy, but when she did speak her words were so touching and beautiful.
God bless them in their journey with the Lord.

I pray this will lead to a return to all Catholics receiving on the tongue, kneeling, and only the Priest distributing the body, blood, soul and divinity in the consecrated host to the people.

Father Leo, this is awesome coverage, thank you! There’s my seminarian Jimmy!!! Woohoo! Just so excited to actually personally know a pilgrim on the Junipero Serra route, I joined the start of the route in San Francisco and walked across the Golden Gate Bridge following Jesus. Actually went in the Golden Gate shop because i forgot everything and needed to pick up some water and something to eat, and told the ladies at the cash registers what we were doing!!! Definitely a once in a lifetime experience, praise God!

We had a Eucharistic procession here through the downtown streets of Silicon Valley last year and I heard one passersby telling someone on his phone, “It looks like they’re worshipping the SUN.” What???😮 That’s how ignorant some people are about our Eucharistic Lord. 🙏Eucharistic Heart of Jesus, burning with love for us, inflame our hearts with love for YOU🙏❤️

Amen. I am so proud to walk with processions like this in our community...for me its like my sacrificial contribution for jesus love for his people. Your right father, make them see and think, let it start on small things and perk their curiousity what our religion is about.
