My friend's on the doll and his said the mandates are stopping him from getting the job he wants. The Government said in the pandemic if Australians get over 90% vaccinate which we did they would end the vaccine mandates which they didn't .

I’ve worked hard my whole life. Mandates saw me sacked, lost my savings then had to sell my home. Now I have full blown RA and on job seeker. I get $300 a week which I survive on by eating l meal a day. I want this pain gone and to work again, but I’m crippled by it. Not all people on the dole are ‘bludgers’.

To be fair, that payment is pittance. Couldn't even buy enough food, let alone rent somewhere.

I have multiple Diagnosed Health Problems that prevent me from working, like thousands of others. 5 years I've been stuck on Jobseeker instead of Disability Support.
It's wasn't some life goal to end up in this situation. Thinking people are having some great time on Jobseeker payments are delusional. Its heartbreakingingly difficult to survive.

Love your work, Pauline, but remember, quite a few of the jobseeker recipients are women in their late 50s upwards who had career breaks for raising children and are not often employed and they are either divorced or their husbands have been retrenched. In the old days they could go on the pension at 63, now they have to do " volunteer" work or courses that lead nowhere, but cost the government more than the pension would have cost. A lot of these women babysit their grandchildren or take care of a disabled relative, a lot of them would like to work, but other than cleaning, there is nothing for that age bracket.

I love this cartoon series, it's so relevant and funny. The writers really know how to do comedy satire.

When I finished uni the job agency made me immediely go into this 12 week course on how to get a job. They were teaching me how to convert kilograms to tonnes; a complete waste of time and they threatened me with my money being cut off if I didn't attend. When I did get a job of my own they claimed it that they placed me on the job so they could get a kick back from the gov.

Jobseekers allowance, or as it's now called Universal Credit is a con. They don't help you find work and have unrealistic expectations.

Job seeker is also used as a parking lot for people not quite old enough to qualify for the age pension, not disabled enough to qualify for a disability pension but not fit enough to be able to hold down a regular job, I'm one of them. Then toss in Vaccines that have made it difficult to walk more than a few hundred meters without running out of breath and BP rocketing past 200 and old age begins to look not so rosy.

Yeah, Jobseeker is the ultimate in high standard living, deciding between paying rent, buying food or paying for the electricity -

I would love to see an episode revealing what really goes on, you know, with the private employment agencies contracted with centrelink that charge a premium for thier services.
I wouldn't be surprised is their services cost 3x times more than the average welfare.
Oh look what I found, an article from 2 years ago: "Privately-run employment agencies in charge of finding work for unemployed Aussies will bill the government $210 million to deal with the volume of additional Australians needing work, which has nearly doubled since the Covid-19 crisis."

Get rid of job providers, bring back the CES.

It enabled me to survive and get a great job. It IS a safety net for the motivated. I would have paid it back in tax several times over by now! I know another who survived on it during no job no jab mandates. I'm glad my taxes support a system based on the Christian ideal of taking care of the poor.

The biggest obstacle to getting jobs is Job Agencies. Profit making monsters. Bring back Job Vacancies to the Centrelink offices. The unemployed come in to there local Centrelink, that has all local jobs listed, or in a simple constantly updated online system, with the contact details of the employer and they ring up and make an appt for an interview or drop there resume in. Have one or two Centrelink staff member allocated full time at each office to help the customers. Sometimes the simplest way is the easiest way.

Lucky Tennis Albo. He's collected off the government his whole life and he's got a $300K per year pension waiting for him.
