This can also happen by excess vibration, like when you use a car or bike mount

Fascinating.
I got that effect by tying a asymmetrically weighted power drill to my camera. It was significantly more work

My camera glass is broken and has been for nearly a year. I haven’t cared to get it fixed and no problems with it, even after dropping the exposed camera into ice cream it is still fine

My iPhone 8 does that, the camera glass isn’t broken, I opened it up and realised there was 2 of the little screws missing in the phone.. it was a second hand phone.. one of the screws I have as it was just rolling around in the casing for idk how many years or months and one was from the camera, so whether the screw has loosened it up, as when I move my fingers on it it moves the whole camera piece a tiny tiny bit..

Wait bro. Is that my phone?? I just traded it in to AT&T maybe a month ago with the exact same issues (same lens and everything) and model

Edit: Any chance I can buy it back for fun? I have a nicer phone now but would be cool to have randomly found my old one like this.

You can replace this by cleaning the lens, replacing the glass, resetting the phone doing the force restart (not complete wipe ) doesn’t always work but worked for me I did it 2/3 times after careful cleaning and replacement and it worked
have a look online has worked for others too

This problem happened to me for the telephoto camera on my 12PM. I tried to brush off dust using a new unused toothbrush, forcing it down the gap around the camera and cleaning it as much as possible before buying a camera protector (temporary fix). I don’t know if I ruined the stabilization thing on the camera or fixed it but it hasn’t caused any problems yet since it’s just the telephoto one.

I had a piece of clear tape protecting mine for a long while, changing it out every so often. But I fixed it myself so we good now.

My lg g3 had this happen when my screen shattered. The camera wasn't exposed but when my screen was fixed that day, it couldn't stop shaking. I think the impact damaged it. No problem though, it was a really easy repair 15 year old me could do at home. Just ordered a new camera for $10 and boom.

I have an IPhone 7 that has the same issue but I does not look as bad. The key to fixing it is to turn the phone upside down and hit the phone from the bottom up. (Make sure you don’t hit too hard because the picture after it is taken might still be a little fuzzy)

It’s not ois. It’s just trying to focus!

This happens to my friend’s iPhone XR, but the camera lens wasn’t broken, it just had a small crack…

Not just the iPhone. I had a Galaxy S10 Lite whose OIS started to freak out just after the warranty expired. I could still make photos, but that was after it stopped shakint the lens like crazy.

I was about to repair that phone, but then the charging module went kaboom and the USB-C died. All the shops I went didn't want to fix that phone, so I had to sell it for parts and buy a new one
