You need a male and a female flower open on the same day. You need to be there at 6am ideally. Female pumpkin flower is the one with the mini pumpkin behind it. The males are the stalks with just a flower on. You pollinated a male with another male! 😂

Absolutely delightful video! Your pure happiness over your sweetcorn, was wonderful! The potato harvest was a joyful celebration, along with the beet root! 😊

I love a bit of Gardener’s World, and Beechgrove Garden. I love seeing into other people’s allotments and gardens. Some people are just so green-fingered!

It looks like you tried pollinating the male pumkin with a male pumkin, usually it doesn't work😅

The thing to do with sweetcorn when you think it’s ready is just to peel the leaves down a little from the top to expose some of the kernels. If they are yellow gently piece one with your finger and if the liquid is creamy they are ready to go!

It’s like the birds and bees. You get the pollen from the males and put it onto the female flowers which usually have a miniature fruit xx

YES! YES! YES! It's perfectly fine to cry over corn! I got emotional and cried when I harvested my cucumber this year. It's truly an amazing experience from starting the seeds to harvesting the wonderful bounty! Awesome job, Emma❤❤❤❤❤

Nice sweet corn. Do remember pinching cobs straight of the farmer's field with friends when I was a child.

"An evil game of pass the parcel" You give me some good laughs Emma and it's fine to cry over your corn or be excited about things growing in your garden. We are just coming up to spring over here in New Zealand and I have planted some seeds inside hoping to get an early start and every morning when I see another one has sprouted it puts me in a positive mood for the whole day.

Emma grow thyme from seed So east tbh and put it around the plot. Brings bees in big time ❤
Have violas & lupins for early season too. Lupins sometimes get greenfly big time and my little birds feast on them. Never affects the lupins but seeing the birds get a feast is precious. Resist spraying. Nature finds a way. With my greenflies on the plot. Birds & bugs sort it out 👍

Great to see your harvest, all your hard work is paying off - especially the blue berries, yum!

You were right Emma. The fruit on the potato plants do contain seeds. They're referred to as true potato seeds or TPS. Look them up. It's quite interesting

Loved the sweet corn reaction, it's good to see some one enjoy the successes of their labors, any gardener is rejoicing with you, good harvest 😀

Well done Emma on the Sweetcorn, I too have grown Sweetcorn for the first time, and will think of you when I choose to snap it off, and only pick if the hair is brown.🙏. Ps flick the earwig off .

Sweetcorn, peel a bit of the husk away to check when on the plant, if it’s yellow it’s ready, if not leave it and then you haven’t waisted a cob!

Not my monkeys reminds me of one of my bosses. She used to say it all the time 😂 I was the same as you when I tasted my first homegrown sweetcorn. I danced around the gatden. This years have been amazing!

⚠️ WATCH OUT ! ⚠️ for corn ear worms 🐛 in your corn 🌽 you need to peel back a little of the top of corns to check there is not larve I’ve had some they eat the corn tops and burrow down ‼️
