How To Install A Shim On Your New Telecaster Neck

In my recent video - My Telecaster Humbucker/Humbucker Project

During the build I discovered that while trying to set string height, my low e and high e string saddles bottomed out on the bridge before I could finish adjusting. I ordered a set of prefabricated shims and this video I install one and setup the guitar.

Had to do it to most of my bolt-on necks, used brass ones which go on the body end only.

You could also use a flat shim in this application.

Why didn't you drill for a micro tilt in the body, you had the neck for it all you needed was a new back plate or drill a hole through it

I had the same problem & ended up shiming with an egg Mc muffin

I bought shims online. They sucked. So I used cardboard from a cereal box. Perfect.

I would just bought a better bridge, fender hardtail or a callihan

Plastic gift cards work well for this and you can get them for free in many stores.

You definitely can achieve the same just by adjusting the bridge saddle height. Its a simple geometry and math.
