Technically 5 horn blasts or more means “make your intention/course” clear or in the more informal way “move out of the fucking way or I’m going to hit you”.
It tends to vary, but when it comes to moving around on a shit, you want to avoide crossing the path of another one and if you are going to, remain on your course to make it clear, it varies greatly depending on the circumstances, but rule of thumb is that if your not limited by draught, wind direction (mostly for sail boats) or other vessels nearby, point your hull to the stern of the other boat and stay in that course.
