I was once cried on holiday because my family kept joking that I would be the first to the buffet. The only person that didn't was my dad, he was the one that comforted me when I cried. I ended up being really self conscious when eating the rest of that holiday, barely ate (partially embarrassment, partially didn't like the food) and ended up losing weight because I wasn't eating. It was horrible, I have never felt so fat that I did on that holiday and I was skinnier then.

This! I used to be skinny and now I have gained a ton of weight and can't get it off to due severe hormonal imbalances. Never felt pretty since I started gaining weight because people comment all the time to me that I should lose some. Before I got married people told me to lose weight so I could look presentable and find a nice guy. Found a guy who loves me AS I AM and supports me and couldn't ask for better. Society sucks.

Ever since I've become physically disabled I'm just grateful I have a body that can get me around even if some days are high pain days. I used to have an ED. I wish back then I could have known what would come and I'd have appreciated what I had more. Bodies are functional things. We should treat them as such. Nourish them well, take care of them. Your reflection is the least important part.
