This is how Bill ackman made his first million dollars. Bill ackman strongly believes that you can learn investing on your own, with this believe in mind he started his on hedge fund called "Gotham partner's" from his dorm room and raised over 3 million dollars. It all changed for him with one big opportunity. The Rockefeller family anted to borrow more than 1 billion dollars against one of there properties bit the problem was no bank was big enough to lend them that money. So they seted up Rockefeller center properties as a real estate invesent trust and got themself listed on the stock market. But as the real estate market got crushed in th arly 1990s so did the share of Rockefeller properties. Bill ackman saw this as an opportunity partnered up with Jill Steinberg and started buying huge chunks of Rockefeller properties with the aim of getting controlling intrest over Rockefeller center. But unfortunately the board of Rockefeller properties turned down bill ackman and made deal with goldman Sachs instead. Anyways bill ackman walked away with millions with this particular trade and also this trade helped him to make a good name for himself in wall street. This is the trade indeed which made ackman a millionaire.
