Blender 2.8 Zooming in slows down issue (Fix)

In this tutorial we go over how to fix the zooming in slowing down issue in blender. We do this by enabling the auto depth feature in the preferences tab.

Step 1:
Go to edit, then go to preferences

Step 2:
Open the navigation tab

Step 3:
Enable the auto depth feature

Two years later, still a relevant issue. Thanks for this video! Updated from 2.92 to 2.93 and overwrote my settings then had this as a huge issue. 20 minutes of poking around on my own finally brought me here. Easy fix that took way too long to figure out.

When I clicked on the Shading tab on the top menu, I got a distant bird's-eye view of my object. Totally not gonna work! I was stuck for a week, being unable to navigate my viewer while in this tab. This fixed the problem. Thanks SO much!

I still can't zoom in. It was working fine, then all at once I can't zoom in. This happened once before and I found the answer, but I'm new to blender and I forgot how I fixed it. I'll update this comment if I can figure it out. UPDATE: In the View Properties (N), I had set the Lock to Camera, so undid that and all's good! :)
