I bought the walmart version red vinyl. Have not listened to it. Is it the same as yours?

Close to a $40 dollar record and they couldn’t even use a poly lined inner sleeve??? The vinyl / record industry takes their customers for granted when they do stuff like this. The vinyl community is a life line for album sales in general. They really should be making an effort for the prices they charge us.

There are 3 versions, Rareform, NRP, and GZ Media.

I have an original here in Europe from back in the day. Its mint. Bought on the year of release in 1992. Sounds amazing! But I may try this new one too

Should have a been a gatefold, 2lp jammed into a single jacket is my pet hate.

Also should have polylined inner sleeves instead of those cheap paper crap

Why didn't you tell us which one you preferred the music on vinyl version comparison, c'mon man.

Too bad it sounds terrible… bass is so overwhelming you can’t even focus on the mids. Top end is just way too harsh… basically bad smiley face EQ

I wish they wouldn't re-master everything.

The kick drum sounds week and shifty compared to the original. Put them bones on and listen to both versions. It’s bad

Perhaps THE biggest disappointment in my 10yrs of buying reissues. It is a failure on every level and i shall explain why.

I pre ordered a black and yellow copy. I got hyped at the Anniversary treatment and hearing an hrs music will finally get a 2LP treatment for improved dynamics and sound quality.

The alarm bells ring the moment you read the hype and see Remastered and you hold the thinnest most basic of basic non gatefold jackets i your hand. The jacket suggests total contempt for fans. Cracking it open the bells chime even harder when you see zero poly lining and the cheapest crappest paper inners ever. Removing from the sleeve you see scuffed records and i could see the GZ media runouts and some stitching and extensive non fills in the grooves indicative of rushing the presses out (common now).

Then you play it and indeed the vinyl noise floor is high and the rips and pops from the groove defects are very present. If it wasnt cut so hot it would be even worse. But its cut too hot to the point that even on the outermost grooves there is distortion and clipping on some peaks and the whole thing sounds hella compressed. Indeed its the kind of flat, weedy and harsh sound alot of remastered CDs suffer and they dont get away with it like this record seems to.

I also own the MOV reissue from 2009. Pressed by a plant that actually cares and doesnt overburden itself with over producing, the record is considerably flatter, totally unmarked coming in a proper inner sleeve and has zero groove defects either visibly or audibly... it is 99% perfect. It needs to be because it gives away some volume to the new issue. What it loses in volume it more than makes up for with mastering being FAR better balanced with no break up or distortion, meatier bass, better image depth (if a hint narrower). The miracle of MOV is that they did it at 30mins a side with no IGD from the cut itself. As a final bonus, only changing sides once instead of thrice always allows better flow of an album.

Thus i concluded the new 2022 issue has not only failed to match or exceed the MOV issue but it has utterly squandered the 2LP potential to render all other vinyl issues pointless.
Hence it is my crowning turd of 2022 by far. Maybe of the last 10 yrs even.
GUTTED.
